Again Michael a huge help but one last question;

The lift and cut buttons (z and x respectively) only give me a “ding” sound and nothing happens but using the delete key works. Strange considering that when I open up the keyboard they are there.

Michael, those were a huge help! Now to get editing.

Not really a keyboard issue. Most everything was the same except the cut tool and the trim tool which I mapped to their respective locations like on my old Avid keyboard.

Ok I figured out a solution, you have to drag the video clips that you want up into Red while in FCP. Yet again more steps that aren’t neccessary. The more I use FCP the more I dislike it, everyone crows about it’s “richness” and “depth”. All I see are useless commands and gimmicks and everything takes more steps than are neccessary. I know what I’ll be switching back to once I have the money.

Thanks all. I will change the audio and see how that works. I still find it odd that the original file plays fine then when you change the extention it won’t play the audio in the Flash Player. Yet it I change the extention back it plays fine in Quicktime. Doesn’t make sense to me.

New problem; original file plays fine as soon as I change it to flv the video is fine but the audio isn’t there…weird.

Thanks you all! As long as they like the video and they can use it in the format they ask for then all is good. Although some sites programs must wrap it for you because I’ve dropped flv in for them and it comes up, never occured to me that it must be wrapped in swf.

What is it exactly you are you trying to do/learn? Have you edited on other NLE sytems before? There are awesome people and tutorials here at the Cow. If not I live in CT which would mean the ferry across to Long Island.
