Red with FCP and Timelines
With Red in Avid you could apply it to say track three and then IN Red if you added more tracks the video would correspond to the video tracks in your Avid timeline.
I did the same method in FCP and all I get from tracks 2 and 3 are the numbers 2 and 3 with no video that corresponds to my FCP timeline. What gives? It was easy to do layered effects with multiple video tracks with Red and Avid now I get nothing in FCP. -

Ok I figured out a solution, you have to drag the video clips that you want up into Red while in FCP. Yet again more steps that aren’t neccessary. The more I use FCP the more I dislike it, everyone crows about it’s “richness” and “depth”. All I see are useless commands and gimmicks and everything takes more steps than are neccessary. I know what I’ll be switching back to once I have the money.
