Would you mind sharing your Compressor settings for encoding a 1080i file for DVD? I cannot get acceptable results. I get far better results with 720p.

If we apply this same logic to frame size, doesn’t the compressor workless hard when downrezing from 720 to 480 than it would when going from 1080 to 480?

Thank you Miriam. The percent slider did the trick This has been bugging me for a long time, and it’s not mentioned in the rather sketchy Boris documentation. You must be pretty bright to have figured this out. -
For DVD, I have gotten the best results with 720p. 1080p would be next. I cannot seem to get an acceptable DVD from 1080i material.

In Compressor, look under FORMATS/QUICKTIME and you will find H.264. At least that’s how it is in FCP 6.

I never use the basic generator, preferring Boris titler instead. In the Boris titler, you adjust the speed by adjusting the duration on the timeline. Longer duration = slower speed. Perhaps the basic generator works the same way.

I totally agree. Actually, whether it’s banded or full-frame makes do difference to me. They’re both just as annoying.
