Flanders all the way. I have their 2450W and it’s is truly great. I came close to buying a JVC but am glad I went with the FSI.

You an still use the 24fps option. I’ve used it before quite a few times and it’s accurate. My method of adding TC burn is create a black FCP title the same length as the sequence. You can type in how much you need in the duration TC box of the viewer. Than add this title to the highest track. I add the TC Gen to this title. Adjust the option of the TC Gen filter to 24fps. A simple test is the spot check down the timeline. You can see if the TC Gen matches the sequence timecode. In all my previous experiences, they have matched.
You said you can nest the sequence because of the audio but you can nest just the pix and add the reader to the pix nest. Audio tracks are still untouched and you can export your OMF.

Chill out people. He’s an excited student eager to start college and is here to look for some good info from industry pros. HIs tone was friendly and inquisitive. No need to give sarcasms and attitudes. He’s a high school student so obviously, he won’t know anything about NDAs. Way to welcome a young person who’s looking to enter this forum and this field. This is the classic holier than thou old guards crapping on the newbies for asking basic questions, which is not helpful nor welcomed on this site.
Ben, there has been no rumors of any significant FCP updates. Hopefully there will be some new patches that will address the issues that exist. So keep on asking questions, there’s no such thing as a stupid question, despite what you’ve read here.

If your film is DV and has been captured in native res, why dont lay it out to a DVCAM submaster and then run that thru the Terenex and get your HD master. It’s all native res from in to out. No need to do an traditional capture from tape.
I bet they’re billing by the hour.

March 11, 2010 at 4:53 pm in reply to: At the end-of-the-day… AVCHD / Pro Res versus HDV.You can keep your source TC if you go thru HD-SDI into a HD card. I believe you lose TC only if you go thru firewire.

What is your definition of semi-pro? And how long would you want this system to last?
If you’re getting your feet wet and this system is for 2-3 years and you’ll just be working in HDV for that time, the imac would be fine.
But if you’re looking to do broadcast and major festival & theatrical aspirations or if this system is to last you for 3-5-years, the a mac pro would be the safer buy.
Hope this help.

The $3500-$5000 is the right price. Just wonder if the eCinema is critical enough for broadcast onlining/coloring. It won’t be used for film outs or transfers.
