HD grading monitor shortlist
Hi,
I am looking to buy a grading monitor. I need to grade HD (rarely SD) and occasionally RED. I will feed the monitor from an AJA Kona (or Blackmagic Decklink Studio; haven’t decided yet). My budget is around £2000, so here are my shortlisted ones:
Datavideo TLM170D -17”
Res: 1440 x 900
HD-SDI. HDMI, component
Contrast: 700:1
£1173

Res: 1920×1080 (full HD)
Component, DVI, HDMI
Contrast: 30,000:1
£1300

Res: 1366 x 768
HD-SDI, component, DVI-I
1:1 mode with HD
Contrast: 900:1
£1935

Res: 1440×900
HD-SDI, component, DVI-I
1:1 mode with HD (1920 x 1080 pixel array)
Contrast: 600:1
£2100
https://www.jvcpro.co.uk/jpe/root/bank_objects/Datenblatt_DT-V17L3D.pdfWhich one is recommendable? I would tend to get the Panasonic, as it is larger, full HD and has the most contrast (I would feed it via component).
Also, comparing the TV logic to the JVC, should I decide based on higher contrast (TV logic) or higher res (JVC).
What I don’t understand is how can the TV logic and the JVC show 1:1 HD if their resolution is below HD?? Isn’t the Panasonic superior in this regard (and in contrast)?
Thanks.
