That $300,000 went to lunch and dinner for everyone. Lattes in the afternoon. Italian leather couches. And a pretty female coordinator solely dedicated to that project. At least from my experiences.

Yes, it’s happening here as well, but I only have to zoom out 1 step for it to work properly.

It works on 5.1.1 when zoomed all the way in.

    Real time Scopers,

Did you notice that the scopes/waveform is very hard to read when it is parked on a frame. The readout is so faint and dimmed now. The release notes mentions that when it is moving in realtime, it defaults back to the old method of analyzing the footage – which is back to half the pixels on every 16th line. So I’m not sure if the realtime is an improvement in this situation – what do you all think about this? Is it still accurate when it is realtime only on every 16th line?

Yes, it works! Though the shortcuts CMD-[ and CMD-] did not appear in my keyboard layout by itself. I had to add them to my keyboard layout from the Keyboard Customize interface. After I mapped them, they worked fine.

Some good new for you Tom. And I sent an email to Loren about it. I suspect he’s going to church this morning.

August 31, 2006 at 1:07 pm in reply to: Ease in ease out in FCP, is there an easy way?

It is certainly a bear to work with. I almost never use it to ease in on a full stop. I try to throw in a dissolve at the end to hide the sharp stop or a bumpy stop.

Anyone tried using Motion to pan and scan on stills? Should integrate better than using AE. And Motion has all the ease in/put preset like AE.

ok, but what about outputting? Which card must you use to output HDV to DVCPro HD?

What is it that makes it easier on these cards to capture and convert to any format but harder to output/crossconvert that you need the Kona 3 that the Kona 2 is unable to do?

So converting HDV to DVCProHD is considered upconverting? and not cross converting? Meaning the Kona 2 will be able to do this?

How about from HDV to HDCam/1080i? Is that up? or cross?

August 23, 2006 at 12:46 pm in reply to: Downconverting HDV… just a quick question

You want to downconvert with Squeeze. When you downcovert with Letterbox, it will “letterbox” the footage in 4×3. Squeeze should give you a proper 16×9. Try one clip and see. I’d admit, their wording is awkward, but I think Squeeze is what you want.

The cheapest way is to get a Blackmagic card. They have cards as cheap as $300. You just have to make sure to pick the right card because they have various cards with various I/O. And any SATA or FW 800 or even the LaCie 500gb Big Disk can playback 8bit or 10but uncompressed.

Ben, I’m working there thru Sept. I was cutting a promo to be played at the Aquarium IMAX theater and then I’m cutting a pilot about The Birdman.

    See you in the hallways!
