Thank you SO much for responding!
I downloaded the GSpot application but everytime I try to run it, an error message appears that says “GSpot Codec Information Appliance ™ has stopped working.”
Might you have any idea why?

If it helps at all, the majority of the clips I’m using are .avi files, and the few that arn’t are .mp4, but it’s all the .mp4 files that are the only ones working.
Should I redownload the .avi codec?
And if so, how would I do that?

Again, thank you soo much for your help!
I actually think that you were the first and only person to help me with the first(and only) other issue I’ve ever posted on these forums! 🙂

Hello. It seems as if I am having the same issue that you were having. I’ve already posted a similar thread about the issue but people have stopped responding and I’m truly desperate. I was working on my project two weeks ago one night, and then the next morning, when I opened the project, all of the media files were offline. It seems as if my harddrive had changed letters so I tried letting Vegas search for the files, and it found a few, but NONE of the others and they remain offline. Then, I tried manually replacing the media but nothing happens when I go to “select in project media list” > “replace…” and I don’t know what to do. When I reopen the project, it offers to search for the media, but it only searches for a select few. Now, none of the media is corrupted, ’cause it seems to work fine if I play it in Windows Media Player and VLC Media Player, they just won’t show back up in Vegas and I don’t know what to do.
Any help with this would be sincerely appreciated.

I tried just ignoring this as well and rendering the entire project, but it was just all black.

    Thanks, alot!
I will get started on that right away!
But, which format should I rip my clips in then in order for them to work in both? I still have about 100 hours worth of media to rip.

Will MP4, MV4, MKV or OGM work in both?

I can’t run the program for more than like… two seconds without a message popping up that tells me that the program has stopped responding/stopped working…

And also, about the copying part of my problem, I don’t understand why it won’t show up. Like, I’ve already been editing these particular clips. The only thing I did was render it so my previewer would stop lagging but the video part of the clip won’t show up at all if I try to copy and paste it onto a differnet track. Are these the same problems?
I just don’t get how it could be the file if it was working in the original project, you know?

Thanks alot, for all of your help though!

From what I can see it is avi for the video and mp3 for the audio…
But codecs confuse the hell out of me so I may be mistaken. Is there something I can go to to check?

It’s dedicated to you, although it might not mean that much because you don’t understand the show or anything, but you have no idea how grateful I have been for ALL of your help. You’ve been so incredible!

Is there any specific way to tell if the project is corrupt and not just one specific file?

And I’m not sure why that specific dump showed up. Maybe I am not re-rendering the files correctly?
This is what I do: I take EVERY piece of video media in the project and place it in the section that it says to drop the multimedia in SuperC. Then I clicked “Encode Active Files” and it just rerenders them I guess. It doesn’t give me the option to rename them or anything… When I’m back in my project, I just go to the Project Media section, select the first piece of media and click “replace” like you instructed and I replace it with the same file. It’s not renamed or anything so I just go to the same file in my documents and replace it with that. It still says .wmv, but I didn’t pay much attention to that because I apparently rerendered them to AVI, right? And because it doesn’t change the name it would still be known as .wmv, correct?
    – Sorry if that didn’t make much sense.

And I checked all of the generated media files and there are no other media files I am missing.
I rerendered all of the pieces of media again and tried to render up to 30 seconds of the video again. It got up to the SAME piece of generated media and then entire program just ended. It didn’t freeze. It didn’t give me a warning message. It didn’t do anything. It just shut off and my computer went back to the desktop.

I tried it again. It just froze there…. So.. it seems sparatic.

If you have any ideas now, I’d be happy to hear them, but if you have a number or something where I can reach Sony Vegas Tech., that would be awesome.
    Thanks so much for everything!
