    Hello.

I am having a very irritating problem with Sony Vegas.

    1. I have rendered a small 0:40 second part of my video and am now only working with that clip (instead of many, very small, individual clips because my computer often lags during playback). Now, I keep trying to copy a little section of the clip and paste it in a video track above the original one, however, only the audio of the copied clip appears.

    2. In another project I keep trying to import an episode of a TV show (in avi format) that I downloaded. I know the clips aren’t corrupt because they play on two seperate media players.

    Any ideas?

I work with Sony Vegas 7.0e (Build 216).
    Any my computer is a Gateway Intel(R) Core(TM)2Duo CPU T5250 @ 1.50GHz.

    Memory: 2038MB
And I have a 32-Bit Windows Vista Operating System.

What codec do these files use. Most likely it’s a codec that Vegas doesn’t support.

From what I can see it is avi for the video and mp3 for the audio…
But codecs confuse the hell out of me so I may be mistaken. Is there something I can go to to check?

Grab a copy of GSpot Codec Information Appliance, drop the AVI on it and let us know what it says.

I can’t run the program for more than like… two seconds without a message popping up that tells me that the program has stopped responding/stopped working…

And also, about the copying part of my problem, I don’t understand why it won’t show up. Like, I’ve already been editing these particular clips. The only thing I did was render it so my previewer would stop lagging but the video part of the clip won’t show up at all if I try to copy and paste it onto a differnet track. Are these the same problems?
I just don’t get how it could be the file if it was working in the original project, you know?

Thanks alot, for all of your help though!

Which program? Vegas or GSpot? Mike suggested that you use GSpot to see what codec these files are using. That is the key to solving your problem.

Yes it could be. What format did you render to? Vegas can render to formats that it can’t edit so you must render to a format that Vegas can edit if you want to bring it back onto the timeline.
