Not knowing anything about FCP really, it is hard for me to answer that part of the quesion, other than high end users seem to prefer Avid, as is reported in a shootout and survey recently between several NLE’s.
I would call Express Pro a low end professional NLE, quite a ways above consumer, maybe even a little above prosumer, but obviously well below the High End Avid systems.
If yoiu are happy with the FCP, for your client base you would probably be fine sticking with it, you might try to get a good demo of an Avid to get a good comparison. If you prefer MAC, I would probably stick with FCP, the newer Avids are not as versatile on a MAC as on a PC. (I’ll probably be chastised for these answers, but it is my opinion.)Charlie

Sorry, I should have added, I am new to AE and I may just ask one of those questions that to Dave may sound stupid, but I’m going to ask it anyhow and would appreciate if someone other than Dave answered.

After 43 years in Video Production, much of that training interns and newbies. I never once told someone or thought that I myself needed to learn a program or piece of equipment or procedure before we had the right to ask a question.

The yellow light is showing it is attempting to run. When you only connected one drive, did you put the terminator on the extra connector?
I have 8.6 Mac but my MAC is tied up at the moment. Maybe later if you haven’t found anything we can compare.Charlie

First are ou recording longitudinal and vertical interval tC? If not make sure the DSR 200 is not set to read VITC. If you are there still may be a problem with the VITC reading. If you are not using stop frame single frame advance from the deck for playback turn off VITC recording.
Other than that the only thing is the possibility of a audio stack misalignment.Charlie

I’ve always done as grinner said. When I worked in a linear suite, I had the fot pages that came with fonts for my Chyron. I would copy them, and put them in a binder so teh client could see the exact lettering of the entire font, it was also good for comparing with magezines, art work, etc. You don;t have to open another program to view just open the book, and much handier for clients to sit back and look at the choices instead of having to gather around a monitor and tell you when to change pages etc.

I’ve never actually heard that term used VTR Betacam Operator. I’ve heard VTR Operator, Tape Operator, Betacam Operator (usually means shooter).
I would presume that it is a tape Operator working with Betacam tape Decks record and playback, that covers a wide spectrum of models. It is not a difficult machine to learn if going in as an intern, you are not expected to already know everything about it, or you would be hired not interning. If the person you are interning with has any sense of responsibility and pride, he or she should be willing to answer any questions, and I always wanted my interns to ask many, if you don’t ask you don’t learn. The only dumb questions are the ones not asked cause you didn’t learn anything by not asking.

Never Mind, I opened another file and voila there it is. Have no idea whatsoever how it suddenly appeared. Hope I don’t lose it again.
