I edited highlites of music presentations for a friend to audition for America’s Got Talent, and I just finished putting a slide show together for another friends 50th Anniversary to surprise his wife on Valentines Day. The slide show was a success, I think, in that the guy was crying as he watched it. I told him if we got half the response from his wife that I got from him, I had been paid in full.
Grinner, my friend, I think I miss you the most, not being around here. Oh, I must say, Ya sure look different with the beard.

Well, I will say, I was actually getting better results with Vegas Video, and Premiere Pro for the work I was doing at the hotel. Altho most of my work was compositing so After Effects was my main program, with the final touches in which ever of the two afore mentioned editing programs worked for that particular project.

I would love to see everyone at NAB. I was voted in as the Craft 3 (Film and Television) Representative for IATSE Local 720. They have an Avid Express Pro 4 setup on a MAC OSX. I am doing a couple projects for members and setting up to teach a class in editing. I told the Training Director about the COW, he said he would put a link on the Union Website and mention it in the union news letter. I will probably need a few pointers on editing myself, now since this is a totally different Avid than what I have used, and since I haven’t used an Avid in about 5 years, I am a little rusty on it. But editing technique is still pretty much the same.
    Miss all of you.

  • Figured it out. The project was created when the problem was present. Went to another project and the decklink worked fine.

December 25, 2008 at 2:56 pm in reply to: how to export to tape using premiere pro CS3

The best way to do this is prestripe your beta tape, then you can export in insert mode. When you start to make the cut to tape tell Premiere that you want to start the edit at 1:00:00:00 and it will do the insert.
I prestripe my tapes starting at 58:40:00 with bars and tone from 58:40:00 and cutting teh bars shortly after 59:40:00 when I start the digital cut to tape, I add slate to teh beginning of my project and possibly countdown after slate, starting the insert at 59:40:00 with 10 slate and ten for countdown program starts at 1:00:00:00.

    Hope this helps.

Also think in terms of some Corporate executives. I had to purchase a toothbrush myself once to be able to clean projectors because the President of the company had a saying, “I don’t write checks for less than $100,000.” He also kept saying you are nickel and dimeing me toward bankruptcy.
Hard to figure some corporations and management people.

Mark, I ahve to totally agree with you. Where was this stuff when I was actually doing real Television, or should I say before I retired. The young guys coming into the industry are gonna have some great toys in the future, probably so much so they really won’t appreciate them like I would have a few years ago.
    WOW!!!!

December 5, 2008 at 2:51 am in reply to: Creative ideas for multicam concert?

Without seeing the footage I have no suggestions. I have faked shots in concerts when I didn’t have the shot of something at the time it really happened, but not sure what you have makes it hard to make suggestions.
    Sorry
