Hi Mark – How are you finding the SoftRaid? Is it working for you? I am thinking of going this way but am coming from hardware raids and have had good luck with them. what kind of read speeds are you getting with RAID 5?

    Thanks

Trying to bring back a RED project from archive. All the R3Ds are in their corresponding RDC folders within one folder called “on-line media”. Using R11 if I navigate to an off line file and select change source folder and point to the “on-line media” folder it does not relink the file. In the media pane all the clips from that folder show up and play down. Bringing in a clip from the archived location and trying to “relink to file in media pool” and that function is greyed out. Tried blowing out all the off line media and selecting all the clips from the archive location to bring in and the timeline gets populated, however I loose all my grades. Same thing happening in R10. Did this before with another feature, perhaps with R9? and was able to relink no problem once all media was in one folder.

How can I get this media back on line?

  • In the past (pre CS and 3-6) I was able to preview half res RAM previews in sync if I also adjusted the comp to be 50% in size. However it is not working with CC.

Do you have any work arounds for being able to have audio stay in sync with half res RAM previews?

    Thanks!

Jeremy sorry for the delay here. Had to get that job out and ended up sending the project into PP via XML to get it done. Not quite as sexy as FCPX but it saved my bacon. Thanks for posting the video. Will check that out after the dust settles! 🙂

Hey Jeremy – Thanks for helping me out again!

After searching I found out how to trash my preferences. Did that and still have the same issue. Not finding anything with google for fcpx cache location. FCPX help does not come up with anything either. Where can I find the cache? It seems to get worse if I go back to the original RED footage from the FCPX proxy renders.

As I was having problems getting my second monitor to work after updating to the new ProRes Coded under 10.9.4, I found a work around yesterday. I got the second monitor to work by replacing the kext files with some that were posted on a link on apples site. I am wondering if that is the culprit? Was also working in AE yesterday and was not getting realtime playback on a 1080 RAM preview. That never happens. If I check the nVidia preference pane for an update is says there is no update. Downloaded the new web driver from nVidia toady and it does not give me my second monitor so back to the “hack”.

Also tried moving the library to another drive to see if the original working drive was going bad and still getting the same issue. Need to get this job out so I may migrate the whole deal to Premiere Pro. Thanks again for your help.

Update: Following the instructions about halfway down this page from “therandyzone”
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6430600

deleting the kext files downloading the other ones in the link and installing them with Kext Utility has worked for me. I now have my second monitor back on my GTX680 running under 10.9.4. Very happy 🙂

After re formatting a drive, installing 10.9.4, downloading the cuda web driver, repairing permissions, restarting a number of times, I still have the same issue of only one monitor operational under 10.9.4. going into the preferences and selecting the cuda updater it says that there is a newer version available, once it try to install the new driver it fails at 20% each time. No difference with web driver or OSX driver.

So for now once again all FCPX work will have to be done on one monitor. Just went through this same thing a few months ago. All of this does not feel very pro to me. Perhaps I just need to purchase the $6000 dongle.

Hopefully nVidia will have the latest driver available for web download sometime soon.

However when I boot the same machine under 10.8.5 BOTH monitors are working with the GTX 680 card.

Tried re installing the os from the recovery disk and same issue. Installed Mavs on an old system disk that had Snow Leopard on it. Same issue. Tried to update the cuda driver from 4.2.10 from within the pref pane and the update fails.

Need to get running for a color job that starts on Monday. Perhaps I need to build up a new SSD from the ground up?!
