  • Pro Apps Codec update = loosing 2nd monitor

Posted by Chad Smith on July 14, 2014 at 11:20 pm

Just updated the Pro Apps codec today along with FCPX 10.1.2 and now the OS does not see my second monitor. Boot up in my old lion disk and the monitor works fine. Did a repair permissions to the Mavericks drive and rebooted but no second monitor. Anyone else have this happen? Work arounds?

What card is connected to the second display? You may need to update the software. This update killed my nvidia driver.

    MP 5, 1 w/Quadro FX 4800
    Running 10.9.4.
    No problems with dual displays.

Still not a big fan of display changes.
Cant span a window across my Dual 30s 😛

Thats because that graphics card does not have the support for the dual Dvi-D connections at that rez.

drop in a different graphics card and it’s not an issue.

Interesting, I am not seeing that issue occur on any of my systems (including the NMP)

I have 2 4K screens on my NMP via display port and not having any issues.

What happens if you switch the monitor cables, does the problem follow the port?

Open up any app and try to spread the window across two screens.
    This is under Mavericks.
We ran into this with Adobe products then VLC.
You will also notice that where your mouse is active there is a menu at the top.
The days of one menu on one screen is gone.
