I used a combination of these to make it work. I placed two copies of the image on top of each other, and animated them as one (i needed to move around the image). When the animation came to a stop I inserted a circle matte over the eye on the top image, then I sandwiched a bezier mattes of both the upper and lower lid in between the two images and brought them together for two frames and then removed them.

It’s a little hacky but it got a laugh and a “nice wink” response. Victory.

    Thanks for all the help.

Thanks for your input, Rory. That’s really helpful.

I also found out that they ultimately want to output back onto DVCPRO HD tapes to finish, so I’m planning to use all the info I’ve been given on here plus the fact that they are going back to the original format they started with to overwhelm them into agreeing with me.

    I hope it works . . .

If they shot in DVCPRO is it worth it at all to up-res to 220 or will 145 be the best?

I’m not really sure why they didn’t go with DVCPRO when they loaded, but they went with 145, so here i am.

If don’t have access to the tape right now or the deck, are there any other tricks?

You can try using your Kona mangement software to change the Kona video output to 720p. It may still be trying to output whatever format you were using prior to changing FCP to 720p.

    Hi Peter,

Sorry I didn’t let you know what platform I was on.

Any chance you’d know how to accomplish this in avid?

I tried applying the BCC effect to a paint effect but it still kept affecting the image beneath.

    Thanks

December 20, 2007 at 6:30 pm in reply to: Internal Media Hard drive vs. External

Someone told me that having two internal drives can be risky. If one of the drives gets corrupt or damaged, it will cause the second drive to go corrupt as well.

    Any truth to this?
