Doing that will erase the footage bellow too John. Wouldn’t it?

[Claudia Gabriela] “BUT, when I make a new Adj layer and set it to subtract, it does nothing.”
Are you making another adjustment layer?
Try to draw another mask on your current one and set that mask to subtract (press “m” to show masks on the selected layer and be carefull to change the mask, not the layer to subtract mode). I’m not familiar with motion but I’m betting you’re just changing the wrong thing.

Do the first thing again. then paste the mask to a solid. link the solid to the text and scale it back up. If the solid ain’t continuously rasterized it will add up it’s scale to the effect. Set the solid to the text’s track matte.

July 9, 2013 at 7:40 pm in reply to: Object rotating in circle on mask path always starts out in the same place. how do i move it?You need to explain it a little further. You are pasting positional data into a positional property and you’re finding it odd that the position is changing? if you paste a mask path in a position track it will do that.
What are you trying to do? On the title you asked how do you move it. There are several ways, make the mask shape exactly where you want it to go or parent the small circle to a null and move the null so you can “add or substract” to it’s circular movement.

Well, without you seeing the file, you may have some limitations. Materials, cameras and so on. c4d has a lot of features that without baking, you won’t pass them on with any conversion.

July 9, 2013 at 12:33 pm in reply to: how to render an AE video with a 3ds max animation without losing quality? If the 3d animation looks ok in your composition windows inside AE and only looks bad after you render it out. The problem is the selected output codec source and it’s settings.

If you end up seeing less than half that space on the SSD after a clean Windows installation it’s because of the hibernation feature. You should check that off otherwise the OS will save up 128GB for nothing.

July 4, 2013 at 12:04 pm in reply to: File half corrupted after render and how to make renders fasterYes…I was agreeing with you on it being quicker and a better option. I was disagreeing when you say significant less time =]. like 5 mins (what I’m expecting it to be) in 17h.

You were using that layer to cast a 3d shadow? you can set it to cast shadows only and make that line go away. Most 2d shadow effects have that option also.

July 3, 2013 at 5:07 pm in reply to: File half corrupted after render and how to make renders faster[Jeff Kay] “…This render should take significantly less time…”
It should take about the same time, not shorter by any significance! He is rendering 5700 frames 1080p 200k visible particles on average, shaded with motion blur… Encoding time will be meaningless.
Though rendering to an lossless format is the way to go…since if you get any corrupted file you can probably patch it up re-rendering from the error onwards.
You gou there a tough thing to render, It was exactly what I thought. You can speed up by lowering particle number or motion blur steps. Though it will look different. My AE estimates 10 hours to render out (12-core). All seems to be fine with the project.
