Have you tried turning off auto scale?

Or maybe you can add some geometry that will keep your bounding box consistent as the inner numbers change. That you can after mask it out, or set it invisible with materials, idk. Never actually tried.

  • Mine look the same. Are you forgetting to turn on the same lightning presets that you’re using on the preview by any chance (under render settings -> lightning)? And turn off comp lights (or precompose E3D) if that’s messing things up.

Edit: My bad for rushing to a conclusion…re-reading I saw you are using the same settings. Just be sure you don’t have another lights though.

  • Wouldn’t it just be:

value multiplied by the null’s scale divided by 100? (value*(null’s pickwipped scale/100))

  • Never saw that myself. But it looks like either a bug in your/current plugin version, or a hardware incompatibility with that kind of blur on those settings.

I’d suggest trying to update Gpu driver or plugin, if available. Reducing composition size, for hardware testing. Or going with another blur setting, since continuous blur is advised for quick previewing or low poly objects. Maybe test that scene in another machine, to narrow it down if you can.

    Good luck.

  • Unfortunatly no, I just did it with what I knew.

But you can search for flag tutorials for c4d, there are a bunch. From there is just an animated pole and a few tweaks to the parameters.

  • You’ll never gonna make it realistic unless you use a cloth simulator (rotations will look way off since they will pivot the whole flag from the base).

Its easy once you get things going (there are a few caveats if you never worked with cloth before) But essentially you import the footage into c4d, create a cylinder and attach a plane/cloth (with belt) to it. Go every 10 or so frames forward and reposition the cylinder at your subjects hand/pole (you can track it, but sometimes it moves so fast that something slightly off won’t be noticed, so I did it by hand). Simulate cloth after you have it all positioned.

you can see the footage I worked on here here

Are you creating a composition with that size? (28800×21600)… why?

You have to just position those compositions and animate a camera. Leave that as a standard 720p comp. Your 28800×21600 dimension solid will only exist inside AE’s space, you’ll never need to actually render something that large to bring it inside another smaller final comp. Also trim the unseen villages when you zoom in.

You can compensate with the blur % setting. When focusing very close to the camera, lowering it can give your object more focus and helps controlling the overall depth on the scene.

Try increasing your comp resolution (for the environment) and see if unchecking compress textures (under output -> sampling) helps.
