As all the other have stated: can’t be done without export – reimport.

! Only thing to be aware of is that you’ll loose the TC reference to the original clips !

Allow me a tip for a workaround (well not really but kind of) I’m using sequences a lot to make myself select reels from which I cut my final version.

Copy – Paste is really quite fast way of working between seq. And you can select anything between the in and out point in a sequence regardless of number of clips and where they are positioned on the timeline (only limit is the track selection) by pressing OPT-A. then copy, switch to your master seq and paste. All original clip tc and reel data maintained!

Also remember that you can link any clips on the timeline by selecting them and press COMMAND-L.

You can quickly check if its a field issue by applying the shift fields filter from the video category in the effects menu.

Set it to +1 and if this plays normal the fields are reversed in the animation file (rendered with fields set to upper, yours is lower).

(it doesn’t show up on the compi monitor in QT because computer monitors are always progressive and do not show fields. they de-interlace automatically.

If this doesn’t help I do not know what the problem might be?

PS. I’m in PAL land so I might be wrong, but shouldn’t uncompressed always be on upper fields?

Yep wacom better then mouse. Not only for Color or FCP CC but in general!

Have a look at the Shuttle Xpress (https://www.contourdesign.com/shuttlepro/shuttlexpress.htm) as an addition to the wacom. I couldn’t live without it now because you can have different settings for different tasks.
A. as a jog/shuttle
B. as a scroll-wheel to control the sliders in the FCP effects tab.
C. as a scroll-wheel to control values in Color
D. use buttons to call certain functions or shortcuts
E…
And you can program a button to switch between settings.

I organized my desk in a way that I use the pen to hover the pointer over a value/slider and with the left hand use the shuttle to scroll. Very fast!

I think this has to do with that LCD’s can have something like a burn in effect if a static picture is left on for a while (don’t know how long though)

I had the same issue with a BenQ LCD retaining a faint color bars causing me to panic and suspect my video i/o was playing up. Same solution as you by just switching it off for a while.

I then read the confirmation somewhere (forgotten where) and now have my video i/o set up to send out black if FCP is not open. I also switch to black when I leave the desk and do not switch off the monitor. Basically I treat my LCD video monitor as I treat my compi screen: LCD last longer if you put them to sleep or switch them off when not using them.

Already doing the ‘not’ mirror to desktop trick as otherwise it’s un-workable on the 2.33. At least in 1080.

Only thing left to decide now is to wait for the new MacPro version or buy now… Throwing a coin as we speak.

2 questions:

Have you used the ioHD on both MacBook Pro and MacPro setups? If yes would you say the MacPro gives you a huge boost in performance in FCP? (I know that the rest of FCP STudio will benefit).

I know the ioHD doesn’t add any RT performance, but in my case it actually takes away RT performance. Some RT effects that play (either preview or unlimited) with external monitoring off, do not play with external monitoring on (through the ioHD).
Is this normal behaviour or caused by the ‘slowness’ of the MacBook Pro?

If you would make the effort to check the system requirements on the Aja website you would see that the Aja IO range is Final Cut only . . .

Safe yourself a lot of money and buy a Canon HV30. Its HD, shoots on very cheap miniDV tape. While you save money to buy something much better then the HVX200, you can get tonnes of experience.
And if you shoot some really great stuff you can still use it even in Broadcast.
For my 2 cents I think the HVX200 is obsolete by now. I for instance would wait for something like the scarlet from Red. And the other will not sleep forever..
