  • I never had that problem so the following is just a thought..

Can it be that the ioHD wasn’t connected at the time you updated the drivers?
Maybe, with the ioHD connected, try re-installing the software again and make sure the io updater finishes burning the software to the ioHD as well!

If you done all that already The only other thing I could think of is a faulty cable, a faulty ioHD, other devices on the firewire bus…

You might have to cal Aja.

I can confirm that using Motion to assemble your timelapse works just fine.
I never tried it the file import way but always choose the stills using the browser.
By the way I have the 40D too.
Much more than Ram and computer speed in Motion depends on the graphic card. I updated to the 3870 from the standard 2600 in my 2.8 MacPro and it made a huge difference as to the max resolution and playback performance. Not sure if you could use the 3870 in your machine?

works fine here too. I have the ioHD.

sorry if this is to obvious but do you change the setting in the ioHD control panel for up, down or SD to SD conversion?
you should set the down conversion to anamorphic.

Also by any chance does your monitor display the 16×9 anamorphic as letterbox?

other then the 2 possibilities above I would have no idea and think myself there is a hardware problem?

  • or get Spark (https://www.shadowlab.org/Software/spark.php)
don’t worry about the beta stage as the software works flawlessly.

there are other shortcut manager software but this is for free and has a super small foot print.

endless possibilities for everything that is not on one button.

and you can use it for any other software you have 🙂

Apart from exporting the sequence from FCP and setting up mics and audio mixer it takes about 1 min to setup STP for recording.

If your fellow office guys can handle the audio hardware they can handle STP! The only tricky thing is that you have to specify the recording directory in the preferences…

They might even start additional audio sweetening in STP 🙂

I’m using Soundtrack Pro for all my voice over recording these days.

Much easier setup and apart from a slightly stuttering picture (could be due to the ioHD I use) recordings are much easier.

I love the punch in and out functionality of Soundtrack as I can playback the last recording and punch the new rec on the same track on-the-fly!

To make it as smooth as possible I export the picture and sound as quicktime self-contained from FCP rather then sending the project over.

Maybe you should have a look as I’m sure you could use the Apogee as intended (don’t have one myself)

    Cheers

February 26, 2009 at 12:16 pm in reply to: timeline clips have lost relationship to master clips

    Nope, local SATA raids.

The clips that I have lost connections for never recovered.

It might be different reasons for the same symptom?

Because only roughly 0.1 percent of all my clips have lost the link and it hasn’t happened for a long time I’m not concerned.

It doesn’t need to be someone else 🙂

I’m working in a single project now for about half a year and some clips have lost their master link (shift-f not working)

Today I had the odd thing of a render file linking to the wrong media.

FCP sometimes has some odd things happening under the hood 🙂
