Any reputable dealer will honor/offer “price protection” if the price drops within a reasonable time (30 days or so). The 8 gig cards price dropped 2 weeks after I received mine and AbelCine refunded me the difference.

Dearest Jan,
Thank you so much for your support. However, I have a long and extensive relationship with Abel who by tradition will go beyond the call of duty to support his clients. I am sure that they will credit me the difference.
BTW- While by tradition my company reelestates.com has been a Sony DV house (15- PD150, pdx 10, etc..), I personally have used and am committed to the Panasonic Products since the DVX, SPX 900 & Varicam. I am in the process of considering the HVX/P2 work flow for all our entry & midrange aquisition…. we are using HC-1s (not Happy) until the HVX is approved.
What is the projection on availability on the 16Gig cards???

Correct Noah, it’s not Bestbuy… This is in the professional realm and professional courtesy should be extended to card purchasers that are within 2-4 weeks. Woops, I think that makes all HVX owners qualify??

What adds further confusion is that the foreground objects don’t seem to suffer form the same jitter… It’s the background elements that are out of focus which jump like beans. Yes, vertical & horizontal elements are the must emphasized… thus the “interlace” description.
I had planned to shoot some daylight test footage today but was not able to. I will try tomorrow just to rule that out, then I will recreate the night/incandescent home shot stuff and see if I can recreate it. You can imagine that I was shocked to see my very first images jitter to a level that distracts the average viewer. I expected HD hotness!!! and got sub-HDV freakiness.

Hello Guys,
Received my camera last night… Wow, what a build!!!! Much bigger than I expected which I do like! While I love Sony’s refined design & finish legacy, I have come to really appreciate Panny’s commercial grade build.
Jitter-
So, I quickly dialed in the scene file for Cine (F5 & F6) and set it to 720/24P to simulate my DVX setup but w/ HD in the mix… shot some low light, in my house shots of my 2 year old and quicly ran to my PB to G5 tranfer set up (PB 17″ to G5 w/ decklink HD/multibridge/Sharp Aquos 26 LCD) and imported the clips. While I was blown away, i quickly noticed the 24P strobe but worse that that is that I immediately noticed a back ground Jitter that looked very much like interlacing jitter. The camera was relatively stable because it was on my dining room table and the jitter got better or worse depending on the focus.I am not formaly complaining yet because as with my first DVX shots a couple of years ago… It was user error why all my shots sucked. I later aquired some of the most stunning images that I had ever produced w/ a video camera. I will be testing it hard core today because I have some spots to shoot (Miami Int’l Boat Show) in the next 24 hours that I want to shoot with the HVX… Outdoor, full Miami light shots on helicopters & boats.
Note on P2-
P2 is just awesome!!! No doubt the winner of new formats!!! However, 8 gig cards are near useless!!!! 8 minutes (16 for 2) is just pointless and premature. It’s okay if they cost $200 bucks but $2000 is just not right! Stopping and downloading after 8, 10, or 16 minutes is just not acceptable for any kind of “video” workflow. 30 to 40 is in the range of acceptable. Even if Panasonic gave us all a P2 Store I still think it’s not cool. Velcro-ing a Firestore to my HVX is another bandaid that I just don’t see! I am super down with P2 but??? I may be returning my P2- 8gigs.I will update you guys over the next couple of days.
Cheers to all HVXers!!!!

The application is a single cheap over the counter reader (a la SD/CFcard reader) that you can plug into a G5.
I have seen some cheap China stuff… any confirmations???

January 5, 2006 at 10:48 pm in reply to: Batch Digitize continues to Unexpectedly Quits!Believe it or not????
I noticed that all my troublesome clips had a “/” in the name… example- “front/1”. I name a shot then add the “/” (slash) and allow FCP to change the # automatically. So, my clip names look like this- “front/2, front/3, etc… So, I went in and changed all the names and viola!!! Digitizing Success!!!! Not a glitch!!!
Thanks to everyone in this forum!

January 4, 2006 at 8:53 pm in reply to: FCP 5.0.4 getting stuck on batch digitize then it crashesThanks Matte! I have had a day from hell!!!! I did do the Prefs dump but I still have the problem. It seems that it is responding to a particular set of clips by just crapping out.. It will digitize some clips and compltely QUIT on others.
I’ve tried relogging the clips, logging and then digitizing a clip, doing a “press play & manual digitize” … but nothing works… FCP continues to quit… I am at wits end!!!
Any additional ideas???
