November 28, 2008 at 5:36 pm in reply to: Multibridge Eclipse and down convert

    Hi Sam

The Multibridge Extreme was one of our last products that used hardware down conversion. This hardware down conversion allowed the Extreme to do a split convert, whereby you can monitor HD on one output and SD on another.

For our current product range, we moved to all software down conversion. Because of this, the down convert is applied before the video signal is output through the device, and therefore all outputs on the Eclipse receive the same down converted signal.

So the Multibridge Eclipse does not work quite in the same way as the Extreme did, but the good news is that your Eclipse is not faulty!

  • Hi All

First, I’d just like to thank everyone for bringing this problem to our attention. Finding out about these issues helps us to further improve our product range.

The problem of the batch capture timecode disappearing on restart has been regressed to our development team, and it is currently being investigated. I’m afraid at this early stage I can offer no time frame on a solution, but please be assured this problem is being looked at.

For those who go back to the 6.7.x drivers, and find that Premiere will not unload properly, this seems to be a very specific problem that only affects certain hardware configurations.

What could help you here, is by going to Project Settings>>Capture, and changing your Desktop rendering settings from OpenGL to D3D.

November 3, 2008 at 3:05 pm in reply to: On-Air Use

    Hi Keith

The On Air software is only designed to work with 2 Intensity boards, not the Intensity Pro cards.

It is also, unfortunately not a streaming application, and will only record a live mix of your 2 HDMI inputs to a file on the hard disk.

For this particular application, I would recommend a dedicated piece of Internet streaming or web-casting software, which will need to be able to work with a DirectShow video device like the Intensity Pro card.

November 3, 2008 at 2:49 pm in reply to: Decklink vs Multibridge

    Hi Wojtek

The Decklink HD Extreme 2, and the Multibridge Pro 2 are very similar capture products. They both offer a full range of connectivity with 3Gb/s SDI for up to 2K, HD/SD analogue component, composite, S-video and HDMI, all for both input and output.

With the Multibridge Pro 2, you also get the addition of dual link 1.5 Gb/s SDI. Further to this, you get a whole extra feature, where you can use the Multibridge breakout box as a standalone, bi-directional broadcast converter when not in capture mode.

To compare these products, why not look at the tech specs of each here:

    https://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/multibridge/techspecs/

The Multibridge Pro 2 is a very robust and reliable product. Blackmagic now also have a dedicated support office for the European, Middle East and Africa region, something which did not exist when the original Multibridge was released.

As such, we can provide a much higher level of support to all our customers in this region, including repair and replacement for all products within their warranty.

  • Hi Eric

What type of PC are you using your Decklink card with? If possible, could you please post your system specs for me and which driver versions you are currently using?

    Hi Guys

I can confirm that BMD are definitely working on CS4 support, but like Peter said, unfortunately none of the current drivers will work with CS4.

I’m sorry I cannot give you a release date yet, but it’s on the way!

October 26, 2008 at 1:39 pm in reply to: Considering Decklink HD Extreme for Mac and FCP/CS3(4)

    Hi Adam

I could not agree more with Dan. The Decklink HD Extreme is certified as compatible with Apple OSX 10.5 and Final Cut Studio 2, and is a very affordable capture/playback solution for the Mac.

With that particular card you will be able to do real time capture of uncompressed HD over 3 GB/s SDI, HDMI, Component, Composite and S-Video, pretty much any connectivity you need. Please be aware that the card is not an acceleration board, and will not speed up rendering times or provide extra processing for real time effects.

Luckily, your Multibridge Pro will also work with the Mac, so you can migrate your current Blackmagic Hardware to the Mac if needs be! Our capture hardware works with both PC and Mac, with Final Cut Studio and Adobe Creative Suite 3. You can move hardware between platforms without any problems!

October 20, 2008 at 2:06 pm in reply to: Exporting from FCP problem

    HI Lawrence

This is a bit of a strange one, as our cards do not do any processing or rendering. They are purely a capture/playback device.

As such, the card itself does not affect the way video files are rendered from the timeline. The only settings affected would be those applied by using one of our Easy Setups to a sequence.

So maybe it is your render settings that are introducing the problems. Have you tried rendering off a Blackmagic Easy Setup Timeline?

It may also be helpful to look up this problem with the Final Cut support too!

    Hi Lawrence

What format and resolution is your original footage that you have captured/working with in Final Cut Pro?

Which of the Blackmagic Easy setups are you using for this?

October 17, 2008 at 10:43 pm in reply to: BlackMagic and 2k image

    Hi Anton

I saw this post then remembered we have already discussed this somewhat via email, and Leo’s advice is also very good.

Please just be aware that the Decklink HD Pro is not a 2K card, it is a dual link HD card but does not do 2k. The Multibridge Pro 2/ Eclipse and the Decklink HD Extreme 2 will both do 2K over 3 Gb/s SDI.

I hope we have already covered all your questions, but please get in touch for any further advice.
