I’ve been in touch with the US support office, and that serial number should actually be ok and outside the bracket of the incompatibility problem, so its quite odd you’re still getting it!
Another solution that has been passed on if for you to try a shorter cable (under 3m) if possible as a last ditch effort.

Hi Patrick
By the serial number it looks like one of the older model cards. Im going to check now for you. Which region are you in?

The fact that you can see the video desktop is a very good thing, as it means your decklink card is working, and its probably just an odd setting somewhere. What res footage are you working with? IS it part of an existing project, or is it something new you are starting on?
A nice simple test would be to drop a clip into the Blackmagic Deck Control program (make sure the clip is a standard television resolution) If this play out fine, then we know your card is outputting correctly.
In final cut, we can use this same clip to test your output as we know it plays out. You can start a new easy setup, with the same settings for resolution and compression as your test footage you just played. Create a new sequence and import the clip. Drop it on the timeline and see if its playing out.
If it doesnt play in FCP, but it does in Deck Control, we need to look at your settings to see what is wrong. What monitor are you using, and how is it connected?

Okie dokie, well if you’ve shot HDV then you might be as well off capturing from your firewire, however you should still be able to get input through your multibridge if set to the SDI input settings.
You’ll also have to make sure your project is set to HDV.

Hi Aaron
Your computer will capture whatever video signal is coming out of your camera via the Multibridge, providing your input settings are correct and set to SDI (Apple>>system preferences>>Decklink). You could also simply verify the output from your camera by connecting it to a monitor.
You could also, and it may possibly be easier depending on your workflow, copy files directly from the memory card itself via USB. Then you could import the files into Premiere.

Would you be able to find out the serial number of your Intensity cards please? There is a small number of older cards that may still have this problem but it is more likely a system issue. If i could ask you to verify your JVC firmware again please just to be sure.
Also if you have the time you might want to try rolling back your drivers and see if that helps, but again im not sure that will help sorry but might be worth trying. If you wanted to be extreme try going back to the 1.2 drivers mentioned in the faq.

Hmm ok there is a known compatibility issue with the JVC HD50U deck and HDMI capture but the latest drivers should supercede this problem. If you are indeed having the same problem its something I’ll have to look into.

Hi Patrick
What sort of system are you running? Do you have a RAID setup and if so how is it configured?
You said you are capturing from a deck? What happens if you try to capture directly from the camera?
Also, do you get output via HDMI from the Intensity card? If you have some footage on your machine can you hook the inensity up to your plasma and see if it plays out.

Hi John
What model decklink are you running and what/how have you got connected to it? What type of footage are you working with?
Might be worth trying an earlier version of the decklink driver and see if the problem persists. They are all available on the Blackmagic website under the support tab. Click on “software downloads” and go right to the bottom where it says “more software.” Click there to get a full list of legacy drivers.

Hi Patrick
First off can i just confirm you are connecting to an Intesity card via HDMI (the decklink is actually a different card). Might be worth checking that your system is actually recognising the Intensity card.
If you got to Apple>>system preferences, and in the “other” section you should see the Intensity icon. If you double click on that you should see the properties for your card. If the drop downs and check boxes are greyed out then it’s not recognising your card. In which case, it would be worth reseating your card in the expansion slot, or transferring it to slot 4 (top), the recommended by Blackmagic.
If it does see your card then it may be your capture settings. Are you using Final Cut Pro? It may be worth trying the Blackmagic Deck Control application, for simplicity, just to check if the intensity is working.
