I use CMX 3600 for Media100–>FCP. It is the most compatible. Make sure your reel numbers are only eight characters the way CMX 3600 likes them.

I think that your question should be targeted to Apple Mac OS X.

There is not a chance that the Preimere Pro export settings are setting to AAF (Advanced Authoring Format)? The clips are on V1 end to end and not stacked on the timeline? There are no more audio tracks than A1, A2, A3 and A4?
You might ask how export a properly format CMX 3600 in the Adobe Premeire Pro forum https://www.creativecow.net/index.php?forumid=3

April 16, 2005 at 6:01 pm in reply to: HELP!!!! need advice on how to get timecode from timeline to tape!!!NickM’s Simple VIdeo Out method will probably work better for you, but I thought I would just throw in this old school method from within FCP.
I haven’t tried this on a DVCPRO 50 tape (AJD93 deck) and I can’t remember if I did this with a Sony DSR-45 DVCAM, but it does work for analog Sony Beta decks. Also, if i remember PBS probably wants you to go to the two second mark with a 1 frame tone–the programming method is for making VHS dubs from analog tape and the five seconds of black is to put the VHS machines in record mode. For PBS I would do a variation of my “Commercial spot” formula to their specifications–note that I like my slate to go over (keyed/composited over) my countdown. Note that for DF (drop frame) you would seed your tape with 00:58:50:00 (note the colons-: which indicate DF and not semicolons-; which indicate NDF).
For Commercial spots my formula is:
45 sec of the SMPTE bars with a 1 KHz tone, then 5 sec slug of Black, then 08:15 of countdown plus slate with 3 frames of 1 KHz tone beeps for 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, and a 1 frame 1 KHz tone beep for the 2 sec mark before video finishing with 01:15 Black Slug…and…first video.
For Programming I use:
45 sec of the SMPTE bars with a 1 KHz tone, then 5 sec slug of Black, then 05:15 of countdown plus slate with 3 frames of 1 KHz tone beeps for 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, and a 1 frame 1 KHz tone beep for the 2 sec mark before video finishing with 04:15 Black Slug…and…first video.
Of course for programming you should check where it is going to air. PBS has some standards that some consider industry standards.
I seed my PVW-2800 with bars staring at 00;58;50;00 from its front control panel for about 12 sec and then do an assemble edit at 00;59;00;00 so after the last Black slug spot or programming begins at 01;00;00;00
I master commercial spots as NDF, non-drop frame, programming as DF, drop frame.
Your mileage may vary
BrycePS I don’t use the bars and tone in the Edit to Tape. I have a Slate Sequence I built that I nest the spots or programming into.

This should work for Adobe Premiere 6.5, but is what I use to do for Media100.
1. Drag all you clips to a timeline/sequence in Premiere.
2. Export the timeline/sequence just like an edited cuts only program using CMX 3600 EDL.
3. Import the EDL into FCP to create a sequence.
4. Drag all the clips from the newly created sequence to a new bin and your ins, outs and durations will automatically be created.
5. Batch digitize
Caveats:
A. Make sure your reel numbers are no more than the 8 characters that the CMX 3600 allows.
B. You will have to manually put your log notes and good take indicators back in manually.
I’m sure there may be some more esoteric methodologies but this is my no-brainer solution.

The current sweetspot in my research is for 250GB. A good low street price for these are $150, so 4 x 250 = 1 TB storage for 4 x $150 = $600 excluding case or RAID case (1 time charge $240 to $500).
Also the 500 GB RAIDed external firewire drives use two 250 GB like G-Technology https://www.g-raid.com/ and LaCie LaCie Big Disk 500 GB https://www.lacie.com/products/range.htm?id=10033. They use 2 x 250 GB and for example you could buy two 500 GB (1 TB) G-RAID Firewire 800 externals for the price of one of their 800 GB units. I prefer the G-Technology because they concentration on the same guaranteed sustained throughput for the entire drives.
For backup I would consider something like these I just stumbled on https://www.cooldrives.com/miulra800dud.html. There are other well respected manufacturer of removal enclosure like Granite Digital https://www.granitedigital.com/catalog/pg22c_firewireidehotswapraid_2.htm or Wiebetech Micro https://www.wiebetech.com/products.php#storagesystems or https://tinyurl.com/3tqpc
With one of the above you could make a client change without having to put the project back on you main external drive.
You said you use external drives so I just assumed they were firewire. For desktop units I would recommend a second physical internal drive where your system is backed up to with your software of choice, but most use Bombich Software’s Carbon Copy Cloner https://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html
