There you go!!! 41% less than the 20-inch Cinema which means you could almost get two for the price of one and have 2 ea. 15pin D-Sub VGA inputs, 2 ea. DVI-D inputs, 2ea. S-video inputs and 2 ea. Composite video inputs.

I got mine a couple of months ago.

I opted for Dell’s UltraSharp 2005FPW 20.1-inch Wide Aspect Flat Panel LCD Monitor with Height Adjustable Stand. Screen is the exact same size–1680 x 1050 optimal resolution–as the 20-inch Cinema. The black bezel is the same size as the Apple LCD and has six control buttons on the lower right. It was $561.75 after 25% of $749.00 and free shipping.

It has four inputs–DVI/VGA/S-Video/Composite. It also has PIP to monitor S-Video or Composite.

I am typing this post on Input 1 D-Sub VGA attached to my Windows XP Pro machine and I simple select Input 2 DVI-D to jump back to editing FCP on my 15″ PowerBook. A side note–my PowerBook screen sits perfectly under the Dell monitor.

I give it 4.5 out of 5 Mr. B’s.

PS. Hello marketing department (lower case intended), Dual Processor 2.5Ghz Power Mac $2495…uh…duh! Sell a ton of them! It is marketing strategies like this that give the rest of computing world that impression that Apple users are blind lemmings always willing to pay Apple’s marketing department’s (lower case intended) premium margins.

Why not a G5 DP 2.5Ghz for $2,495 brand new spanking retail? Duh…?

What is the G5 DP 2.3Ghz? An overclocked G5 DP 2Ghz?

You can make your bin’s show or hide any number of columns for useful information when you log and capture. I always liked the way Media100 would have the reel number column first, then in, then out and then duration so I simply had a customized column layout in FCP similiar to M100. Also you can import/export column data from spreadsheets. You can sort the columns the way you want. Check you manual for customizing the Bin Layout window and your import export options which are only limited by your imagination.

You could roll-your-own server with using a product like https://us.shuttle.com/ with a small form factor or get something like a Buffalo Technology TeraStation https://www.buffalotech.com/products/storage.php which includes Gigaethernet.

A little more than your average firewire drive, but you get what you pay for.

All these are external programs but are better tuned for rotoscoping.

Commotion Pro 4.1 use to be a great product for this, but it may be deader than dead since Pinnacle acquired Commotion and then Avid acquired Pinnacle. Gobble, gobble, gobble…
