February 16, 2016 at 7:22 pm in reply to: QNAP 871T…Will it work for me?

    Jonathan,

    1: Yes it will work.

2: You’ll need 10GbE with the XS712T, which I can/will configure for best network configuration.

3: The thunderbolt port is ineed for direct connect and expansion. You can also simultaneously connect via CIFS/SMB and AFP.

    Jonathan,

Would love to talk about the QNAP and maybe even get them on the phone with us and we can see if that system will work for you. I personally think the QNAP would be a better than the Smalltree solution. SHoot me an email or call and we can discuss it further.

  • Joern,

Shoot me over an email directly, and I can explain how we make it work here and still works into your budget. But yes the switch and other components play a big role.

  • joern,

I would recommend using a mac pro connected with a gtech studio xl with 24tb with the 10 gig switch for the editors to hook up. We make a solution here at maxx digital and can give you some more info. if you’d like.

  • Daniel,

Hopefully this will answer your questions and make everything much easier.
There is no reason to use iSCSI.A simple system with 10Gig Ethernet will give you speeds that exceed the requirement for 4K. Not just from Maxx Digital, but from any of our competitors.

You could do a Mac based system for him with all 10G connections, or we can do a 10G QNAP solution. Added w/ 48 TB RAID array, be it Mac based, or QNAP based.

Let me know what you think, and If you’d like we can get on the phone and talk about all the solutions.

    Joe,

Do you want to keep a cloud type of storage system or do you want external? I recommend external its easier to use, and you can always have extra drives on hand just in case you run into the problem you just had. If you have time, give me a call and we can talk.

    Jason,

Give me a call and we can talk about your needs and exactly what could work for you. It really depends on certain things on which one to go with. But i have some questions, if you can give me a call.
