I started editing a feature using a RAID 5 set up in a Thunderbay RAID. I didn’t realize that in a RAID 5, you need to leave one drive unfilled, so even though I have four 4TB drives, I only have 12TB of space. I’m just about full, with only 300 GBs free.

I have a Highpoint Rocketstor that I use with some drives for other projects. I want to I get a blank drive, daisy chain the RocketStor to the Thunderbay, and move over a lot of footage from the RAID 5 to the Thunderbay. Will this work? I assume yes but I wanna check first.

    thanks!

    Noam,

Give me a call or email and we can talk about what you need and if that will workout for you as well.

I’d love to know the answer to this also.

I just spoke to someone at Bryce’s company who said daisy chaining out of the Thunderbay should be OK. I’ll try it out this week!
