Bin Sharing on a Flux server.
Posted by Eduardo Serrano on February 21, 2016 at 1:57 amHi all,
I have access to fairily big (200TB) storage system solution based on Filmlight’s Flux.
Is there any solution that could run on top of that and give us bin sharing (avid)?
I believe it runs on CentOS, but I’m not sure. The idea is to use our current hardware setup to serve our offline needs as well.
All help and advice is greatly appreciated.
Ed.

February 23, 2016 at 9:50 amIf Flux can export itself via AFP/SMB/CIFS then I’ll have a neat solution for you in the coming weeks.
We just completed beta on a client side utility called MIMIQ.
It sits in the system tray and gives you exactly what you need. No complication, or fuss. It works perfectly on Windows or Mac and doesn’t care how your storage is implemented.
Check our site for info soon 😉

February 23, 2016 at 1:47 pmBryce, I am really impressed by your platform series. Specially, the transcode features within a bin sharing server. I will ask the facility to talk to you as well. Thank you.

February 23, 2016 at 4:40 pmHi Eduardo,
I’ll keep an eye out for the email 😉
FWIW I only really swing past here to see if I can help anybody out. I’m not much into using the forum for sales leads.
If anybody else comes past this post, we also publish a couple of open source (free) sharing softwares that work nicely with AVID, amongst other things. However, you need a Linux server to run them on. MIMIQ is a little bit different.
Take care,
Alex
