Stage Tools gets my vote. Designed by a film editor and very simple to use.

  • I use a Nexto 2500 for instant backup and a 17″ MacBookPro + Lacie Rugged drive for peace of mind. Lacie has been working well since the start of EX1 shooting.I always want at least 2 backups- just in case of trouble. I use SxS cards for interviews and important material more out of habit than anything else. Transcend 16gb class 6 SDHC cards in MxR adaptors have also served me without a hitch since the start of the revolution – must be over 2 years or more, I have lost count of timescale.

I am new to Premiere nd find the same problem. I have selected a BlackMagic preset and then the pictures appear on the output HDSDI monitor.

Solved – purely finger trouble – not choosing correct project settings for Panasonic AF101 files.

BTW I am only a “genius” through picking up the knowledge generously imparted by Craig,Don,Noel etc. This is a great info board.

The BPAV must not be renamed. Put the BPAV in a named folder. Every BPAV will always be called BPAV, that is why the named folder system is the way to go.

Silly suggestion but can you hire a Datavideo or similar mixer that takes non sync sources and makes it possible to cut without any hassle.

SDHC cards can be downloaded to the Nexto 2500 from the sdhc slot. Nexto does not recognise in my case the MxR adaptor when put in Expresscard slot.

By minefield I did not mean it is a bad idea. I have been using them myself since 2008 without any problems. It was Craig’s findings that helped me decide the route to go (old Sandisk/Transcend 16gb/MxR). My comment was really based on seeing so many posts talking about failures with combinations of cards that are not up to it.

A Panasonic card is not a good idea. Sandisk extreme or ATP Pro will work well. SDHC is a minefield look on this site and others for accurate info.
