Thanks John. You hit it out the park with your windows solution. Pity you don’t have the other app available yet. I could have used it. Can’t justify the cost of the complete tool kit as I really won’t use enough of them. But thanks for the great app I did buy.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I managed to achieve the effect eventually by using the magnifying glass with the alpha bg and CK insert on the top line and a matching cookie cutter circle on an zoomed-in copy of the third video line in between it and the top video line. Then I matched the movement of the glass exactly.

It was a fairly complicated method and it would have been greatly simplified if I knew how to copy key-frames from one track motion line to another. I was only able to match positions of each independent key-frame. Do you know of any method to copy track movement from one track to another…along with all the key-frame positions? If there is no way to do it, this would be a wonderful addition to Vegas in some future update/version.

I’m on version 1.10 at the moment. I updated the version myself soon after buying the camera and haven’t got around to updating to 1.20 yet. I’m so happy with the way it’s operating at the moment that I am rather reticent to fix something that “aint broke”.

Pitching in a bit late with my 2-bits worth: I use mainly the Hoodman adapters with their supplied 32 Gig RAW cards. I have had these for almost two years and record everything including slow-mo on them. Not had one glitch as yet, but I’m very careful to ensure my previous shot has been logged properly (the green light comes on) before rolling my next take. I also switch off my camera if I intend to remove or replace a card. I know this is unnecessary….but what the heck.

I also have the 16Gig SxS card that came with the camera and occasionally use it for a “must have”, “one-take-only” scenario. Again…it’s not that I don’t trust the Hoodman cards, it’s just that I’m a bit anal…possibly even superstitious. 😉

When using the Sony AVC codec, be sure to go into “Custom”, click on the Audio tab and make sure that “Include Audio” is ticked – I believe that it is un-ticked by default (!??!). This should solve your audio issue.

I also did a render test with Vegas 9 vs Vegas 11. As Vegas 11 recognises my “low end” Nvidia GForce 230M card, I tried it first with the card enabled. Result was clearly slower in Vegas 11 than Vegas 9. I then tried it with the card disabled. Same result.

For the identical clip and identical render and project settings, Vegas 9 produced better render times than Vegas 11. Oops!

Sony….Please fix this while you’re fixing all the other bugs. I don’t see why I’m expected to pay more for a version that seems clearly inferior in many ways!?!

Thanks so much for your input John. I’ve been in this business longer than I care to remember (2″ quad head machines!!), but until recently, always as a producer or director. With the advent of programs like Vegas and speedy (and affordable) computers, and the remarkable cameras available today, it has become possible for me to begin producing documentaries myself. But this brings with it the need for the sort of expertise that I used to rely on others to provide.

This forum, with people like you providing the guiding light, is a boon to those like myself. I thank you, and all on this forum who contribute their hard earned experience, very sincerely.

I had been softening the clipping by using the “Smoothness” slider in Broadcast Colours…but I guess there must be more control in the Levels plugin. I’ll certainly use that from now on.

Would you suggest placing the plugin in the Video Output chain or after the Colour Correct plugin in the Video Track chain?…But then, I guess that should really be dictated by the project and the tracks and events therein? Your comments would still be appreciated on this though.
