Upgrade to Pro11 or not
Posted by Chris Siers on November 30, 2011 at 5:34 amI’ve been using Vegas since 5.0 and have upgraded every year without question I’m quite concerned with the numerous comments relating to the latest Vegas Pro, and am wondering if it might be worth while hanging back for another year. Maybe ver 13 might be better. Any comments??

November 30, 2011 at 6:58 amFor what it’s worth—If you don’t need what V11 offers I wouldn’t upgrade now. I’ve been on this forum for several years now and I’ve never seen so many problems posted when a new version of vegas has come out as there are currently. I’m going to wait until the dust settles myself, but that’s just me!
Thanks

November 30, 2011 at 9:57 amI upgraded to 11 from 10, but I am back using 10 because of the GPU acceleration problems (which is the main reason I upgraded). I have the issue sent to Sony Creative Software support, but from their responses it seems that they don’t have a solution yet. I up graded from 9 to 10 with no problems ( I did wait to upgrade until the bugs were worked out of 10) I hope they get 11 working, especially the GPU acceleration because I bought a new video card just for that purpose!

November 30, 2011 at 12:52 pmI would recommend you grab a copy of Vegas 11 from now,
But still continue using Vegas 10 until version 11
gets an update or two.
I am still using Vegas 10.0e

November 30, 2011 at 1:14 pmI have to agree with everyone else’s comments. If you have the money and can get a cheap upgrade, maybe you should get it now, but keep using 10. I still use 10 on many projects. I’ve gotten around many of my problems with Vegas 11, but with it’s small number of upgrades and NewBlueFX crashing constantly, the actual upgrade for me has been GPU acceleration and little else.

November 30, 2011 at 1:55 pmI’ll be ordering the upgrade today (it is the last day for the cheap price) but have no intentions of installing it until all the bugs get worked out.
In the meantime, Pro 10.0e is working just fine for me. -

November 30, 2011 at 6:29 pmI upgraded from V9 to V11. I’m back using V9.
Knowing what I know now, I would wait for V12!
Cheers,

December 1, 2011 at 2:00 amMaybe Sony should rename Vegas Pro 11 to Vegas Backyard 11. A real shame it was released in its sorry state. Yes, some folks have it working, but it seems very situation specific, and not a sturdy all-rounder. I’m back to 10 too. I wonder if they will credit the upgrade to VP12?

December 1, 2011 at 6:40 amThanks all for your comments. I’ve been more than happy with Vegas so far, but it appears ver 11 has let us down. I think I’ll take your advice and wait till ver 12 comes out next year, unless Sony does improve with it’s current version and then offer us an upgrade at e reduced cost. Once again – thank you – a great forum – learning a lot from it. Chris Siers – Chrisandra Video Productions
