    Hey,

I’ve read some good vegas tips on here for a while. But now I got a question for myself.

I just updated my pc with a gtx560ti to profit from the gpu rendering in vegas 11.

In vegas10 I always rendered with mainconcept avc at 4mbit because my vids are mainly for youtube and youtube compresses it always back to about 3.8mbit

When rendering to mainconcept 4mbit with vegas 11 it seems like the vid has ALOT more artifacts then with vegas 10.
First I thought it was because of gpu rendering but then turned it off and it is the same thing.

So I did a couple of tests… These are all made with the same file properties and same render settings.
Am I doing something wrong in vegas 11 that I can’t get the quality from vegas 10?

Here is a frame in the shadow that is pretty dark. You see that vegas 11 4mbit is really awfull and even in some clear frames the car roof and the helmet have lots of artifacts

Here is a shot in the shadow, I can tell you here there isn’t alot of difference between vegas 11 8mbit and vegas 10 4mbit on my screen, with a slight advantage to vegas 11 8mbit(as it should be)but Vegas 10 8mbit is the overall winner

I also did a render test with Vegas 9 vs Vegas 11. As Vegas 11 recognises my “low end” Nvidia GForce 230M card, I tried it first with the card enabled. Result was clearly slower in Vegas 11 than Vegas 9. I then tried it with the card disabled. Same result.

For the identical clip and identical render and project settings, Vegas 9 produced better render times than Vegas 11. Oops!

Sony….Please fix this while you’re fixing all the other bugs. I don’t see why I’m expected to pay more for a version that seems clearly inferior in many ways!?!

Maybe vegas 11 is especially made with gpu rendering in mind.

While my vegas 10 takes about x1.7 real time to render, vegas 11 (with gpu enabled) takes about x0.5 real time

Did you turn on the deblocking ? Mind also trying the “Sony AVC” codec with the same shots ?

There is also this intresting link which describes more of the Mainconcept CUDA AVC codec. Maybe those limitations cause this massive blocking effect. https://www.mainconcept.com/products/sdks/gpu-acceleration/cuda-h264avc.html

At this point, if i was heading the Sony Creative team, i
would see to it that a longer and more rigorous beta testing
is carried out before releasing a new version. I would leave
    no bugs unturned….lol
I couldnt sleep at night knowing that it takes several updates
    (.0a/.0b/.0c) to get it right….but that’s me.
Vegas has so much potential to topple everything out their.

Thx for the advice, I tried the deblocking but it’s actually worse then normal

I tried the sony avc codec and the results are alot better on 4mbit, but then I get the same problem as here. The video renders without sound…

When using the Sony AVC codec, be sure to go into “Custom”, click on the Audio tab and make sure that “Include Audio” is ticked – I believe that it is un-ticked by default (!??!). This should solve your audio issue.

    Cheers,
