Chuck,
I know of an editing program that won’t work because the computer has Internet Explorer 9. Once I.E. was removed/disabled, the program worked fine.
Using the above idea, in RUN, msconfig it and disable start up programs and I.E.9, if you have it. Then, open Vegas and use it.
If this works, let others know in a post.

Roxio’s Creator 2011 Pro. It does a pretty good job converting 2D to 3D, both video and audio. Audio does have convergence adjustments, but not the video.
This software also converts to RealD. Nice feature, but no current consumer TV had it…yet.
Side note: I’ve purchased nice-looking plastic frame red-cyan glasses (they look like Oakley’s), but the paper version has deeper color which makes for better filteration so there’s less ghosting.

If Sony wanted to keep all of its Vegas users they’d incorporate features that would entice. 3D isn’t for the masses…yet.
I’m sure there are many users who can’t afford effects software like After Effects or Boris FX. BUT, if Sony would incorporate effects that are important (track motion, pinning corners), not only would it keep the Vegas family happy but entice potential video editing software customers.
Please chime in if you agree so Sony might take a look at what would keep us happy.

Sorry, I forgot to mention about the SD card problem. Make sure you scroll through the menu on the video camera and find the “format SD card.” After you format, transfer your clips (8GB at a time) to your computer.

Since this isn’t your video camera, you probably don’t have the software needed to have the video camera recognize your computer. The other way of transfering your footage is through an SD card.
Here’s the link to the Canon manual. Go to page 130 and follow the instructions.

Burton, another alternative is to record your VHS tapes to a set-top DVR disc (use DVD R/W if you want). Finalized discs are .VOB files. Vegas recognizes VOB’s. You’re good to go!
