    Great suggestions, thank you.

    I like the idea of using the null object.

    I could not see the example you put up… the link dosen’t seem to be active…

    but when I am working on a project that needs to be delivered as an SWF or FLV etc I typically don’t use AE to create them. I have found that exporting the highest quality video out of AE and then compressing using Sorenson works the best. It’s not that AE can’t necessarily handle it I just think the result is better.

    Here are a few that helped me out:

    Book – The Meyers, “Creating Motion Graphics with After Effects” is a must read

    DVD – Check out Total Training they have a bunch, and Jayse one of the guys who puts together the tutorials here on the COW put out a training DVD for AE 5 that although old has a lot of great information

    Classes – In NYC there is Future Media Concepts that I took a few classes at that we good.

    Michael,

    My task today has been to try and match this stuff up. I like your idea of using the waveform to do so. I wound using verbal cues and laying each camera on the timeline then nudging one way or the other until there was no phasing. Not the cleanest way to do it but it seems to be working.

    I was hoping there was some calculation I could do to convert from non drop to drop frame, I tried reading up on how to use the calculator tool but I did not have much success putting it into practice.

    Thanks for your reply.

    OK… Well if it helps here is the worflow from AE to Avid that I use with success:

    From AE:
    When I have moving elements such as text or graphics I turn the Motion Blur on for each of my moving tracks

    In render settings make sure Motion Blur is set for selected tracks

    In the Output module settings I use Quiktime, Animation, millions of Colors+, RGB+Alpha, Millions of Colors+, Straight

    On the Avid Import I use:
    Aspect=601/709, non-square
    Color Levels=601/709
    Field order=Even
    Alpha=Invert Existing

    Hope that helps….

    Richard,

    Is this a solid arrow? or an outline of an arrow? And what color is the arrow?

    There a number of factors that could cause that to happen that infomation will help figure it out.
