… you need to select the sound in the Sound File property of the Effector tab of the Sound Effector object not using the timeline sound track. …and you need to have the Sound Effector in the Effectors tab of the Cloner object, if you had the Cloner selected when you added the Sound Effector that would happen automatically but if not you need to add it yourself.

I have looked at (but haven’t tested yet) the Unity game engine which can make executable visualizations and has a plugin based web delivery system as well, imports C4D amongst others. You don’t have to make games with it. Check out the gallery. https://unity3d.com/

Probably the texture axis tool would do it (with the right mapping). There is no one way to do it but if you understand the mapping modes and that you can modify by using the texture axis tool your a long way there, and that’s not even thinking about BodyPaint which will let you do almost anything. Here is a very simple example. Check out the alpha.tif, it’s just laid on with a flat projection but at first it looked wrong until I rotated the texture axis so it was pointing down at the inverted bowl at the top of the ‘tree’.

Activate and animate the Length channel of the Hair Material to grow the hair.
To get just the tips to bend you need to go into the Dynamics tab of the hair and set the Properties the way you want, then use one of the Modifiers to modifiy along the hairs length how stiff it’s going to be. Here is an example using Rest Hold but it’s probably not the only way.

[Anton Dahlberg] “Sometimes the program doesn’t render when I use hair. It’s rendering fine if I shut it of. Why? “

    Memory? …but no idea really

[Anton Dahlberg] ” And why can’t I move hair that’s rendering fine? Only the axis moves.”

Hair grows from an object, I’ve never tried to separate it from the object it’s growing on. If you want the hair without the object then hide the object in the editor and renders and move the object, the hair will follow that.

Yeah, if you choose any of the poly options in the Hair’s Generate tab it will show up in the Depth channel. Don’t even have to make it editable. However you will have to retexture it since the Hair material won’t work anymore. Just depends on whether you have enough memory/horsepower for the amount of grass you have.

Depth in a multipass render does not include post effects, only depth information of non-post effect objects. You can see the information in use if you activate Depth of Field in the Render Settings/Effects tab and set the settings there, that results in a blurred image that you see in a normal render – which in a multipass render is either the Background channel in a multilayer file or the RGB image in an image-per-layer render. If you don’t turn on Depth of Field in the Effects tab the rgb is not blurred but the depth information is still saved where you can apply it to whichever layers you want at whatever strength. Which is why Depth is a Channel in a multilayer file and not a Layer (easier to take a selection from (well in PS for sure, I’m not an AE guy)).
