How do I make the hair grow?
Beginner’s question…
How do I make the hair grow? The HAIR module itself doesn’t allow me to animate the growth property – why is that? Is there some way to get around this?And one more question – when I use Wind – how do I set it up to affect the Grass (HAIR) non-lineary? What I mean is how to set it to move the tops of the grass-blades more then the bottom part…

Activate and animate the Length channel of the Hair Material to grow the hair.
To get just the tips to bend you need to go into the Dynamics tab of the hair and set the Properties the way you want, then use one of the Modifiers to modifiy along the hairs length how stiff it’s going to be. Here is an example using Rest Hold but it’s probably not the only way. -

You know, I can’t seem to get the “length” channel when I try to add that track from “Property Tracks” — am I missing something? I’m new to the version 10 layout so maybe that’s the problem. But I can’t select the red dot or create a track in the timeline for it. There is no “length” that is recordable.
I, too, am trying to get hair to grow. If you have a simple project file that I can look at, it might help. Thanks.

yeah, i just checked. I can see where to keyframe the length when i use “fur”. but it is not there (in the same place) when i want to have the hair grow.
