ah, you can use the Structure manager to copy/paste and it will do what you want (it’s easiest to undock it to where it’s easier to use in combo with the Object manager) or you can take the bits that you get with the Split command and use the Connect (or Connect and Delete) command to add the objects you need together.

linear workflow comes to mind but since linear is a project setting and should be followed regardless of where you are rendering it doesn’t make sense (but my experience with rendering to different machines is limited)

Are you using AO and have you excluded the glass from AO?

object rather than layer I’m guessing, I think you want to select the points you want to copy then Right-Click the viewport and choose Split from the menu that pops up (or Mesh/Commands/Split in the menus (version dependant on where that is). That will give a new object with the copied points in it – it keeps the original one selected so you can then delete (if you are moving something to a new object) so you might need to hide the old spline to see the new one since it will be in exactly the same place.

it would be easier to test with the scene file but some general stuff, is that a real object or 3D? (hard to tell with that small a picture)
Either way, try and emulate the reality. The house should have thickness to the walls, the light should be a luminant object that’s very bright, the windows should probably have portals (check the help) to pass light outward correctly (portals are usually used in reverse – for light coming in – but here it might help too). The inside surface of the house should be pretty white by the looks of it.
The GI bounces will have to be high enough to get light up the towers (if your house is like that) – unless there are more than one light in there – I’ve seen similar stuff that use a string of white LEDs.

I agree with Justin, not usually a thing. It used to be a concern of Mac mixing with PC back when the chips were different but ever since the change to Intel by Mac I haven’t heard much. Steve or others might know more.

November 21, 2018 at 5:10 pm in reply to: Constraining cloning grid to a object surface

it should be possible to create a spline that will work, Project it down on to the landscape and clone to that. In my example I used a plane object, made it editable, did an Edge To Spline then removed half the splines (just selected one edge of points, Select Connected then delete to get rid of half the points since the splines made from a plane that way go in both directions U and V and you only want one).
For your round landscape you’d have to make a selection for the cloning to restrict it to the places you want.

if you were using Thinking Particles (I assume no XParticles) you could have the particles be zero size for the first while then get bigger.

the plain effector can’t affect the rectangle without affecting the entire sweep, that’s just the way it works. Waht is the ‘wave’ supposed to do? Lift the sweep or make it bigger (a bulge that travels down the sweep – this is what I think you mean)
