in xpresso the answer is Modulo in a Math node or in a Range Mapper but Adam’s right, it’s easier with repeat in the timeline

  • you can be sure that it’s not because “that’s the way Maya does it”… C4D has a highly configurable interface so you can make it pretty much how you want. It might be because if you put Shift-LMB in Customize Commands shortcut filter what comes up is Rotate Camera, could be a conflict there. Maybe ask Support if Shift-LMB is hardwired.

  • haven’t had any success with trying shift-LMB but discovered C4D recognizes button 4 and button 5 and uses button 4 (code MX1) as an option for V

What is the mapping for the texture? it looks like it might be cubic (but just guessing)

if the color is all the texture contains (that will be noticed moving) you can use the Offset U and Offset V in the texture tag. If the texture has to stay still (bumps or alphas etc etc) then put the bitmap in a Projector shader and use Offset X and Offset Y in the projector

  • it’s the emitter settings. Birthrate Editor is set to 1 and Birthrate Renderer is set to 100 so when you render you are getting 100 times as many bills and it completely changes the behaviour of the bills since they all bounce off each other because its a dynamics based scene. Set the Editor and Renderer birthrates to the same value so you can see what’s really going to happen at render time

  • in the Dynamics Body Tag (attached to your money object) there is a Cache tab, click the Bake All button there (Bake Object would work too if the money is the only dynamics) – you don’t have to worry about Collider tags – after it’s done the dynamics are cached. You should be able to erase all Collider tags (or disable or leave them alone, all ways work) but the dynamics are cached/baked. If it doesn’t bake properly there might be something else going on and it may be necessary to see the scene file.

  • try caching the dynamics for the bills

my question was just because ‘small illuminants’ is for lighting predominantly by small lights and yours is by a luminant texture so the setting you are using might not be the one you are looking for.

about the more general questions, no you can’t prevent flicker and splotches without increasing render times, you have to have render power but there is lot you can do with the settings, if you have not done so check out the help section ‘Tips and Tricks (Global Illumination)’.
Don’t get stuck on Physical Render ‘just because’ sometimes Standard is faster (and vice versa) – test which one is faster for the scene you are doing (unless you need something only one or the other will do.
