I have a high resolution bitmap in the colour channel of one of my materials, is it possible to animate its position parameter or do I have to make a movie clip of it?

if the color is all the texture contains (that will be noticed moving) you can use the Offset U and Offset V in the texture tag. If the texture has to stay still (bumps or alphas etc etc) then put the bitmap in a Projector shader and use Offset X and Offset Y in the projector

Thanks Brian. It’s a second material added to the item just as a displacement channel to give moving detail to the surface with its transparency set to 100%. So no way to animate the rotation?

Also did you see my recent post about texture mapping? I obviously don’t understand the texture tag. I was trying to duplicate a material where the colour channel’s bit map had a slight change made to it by photoshop. When I reimported the modified bitmap (same parameters) and applied it to the duplicated texture tag, the mapping changed. -Any ideas?

    Thanks again

The layer shader has an option that allows you to animate rotation. Just add your texture as a layer and then add an Effects>Transform layer. Then animate the layer shader.

    Example: 9159_texrotation.c4d.zip
