Sorry, I did not mean luminance in the red material, like Corrado I was thinking a plane object up above the text with a luminant texture on it to reflect off the rounding of the text.

the textures are simple, with more reflection on the red. There is a white luminant object up above which is making the highlights on the text, doesn’t look like it has AO and it wouldn’t necessarily need GI. At least one light fairly ‘face on’ other as needed, I guess.

ExplosionFX does not generate clones (which are needed by the Inheritance effector) but if you throw in a MoGraph PolyFX object as another child that treats each poly as a clone so the Inheritance can do it’s job.

  • it should be possible using the various channels and possibly the Layer shader in those channels – some of the apparent effect in the example image is coming from lighting as well though (assuming it’s not just photoshop) so you have to think about that as well. As time permits, I’ll try it as well…

  • and you are using Transparency to mix the textures? If so, you can’t do that without getting that kind of artifact from polys occupying the same physical space. You can put one texture on one object and get the effects you want or put multiple textures on one object (using Mix Textures).

  • you have multiple instances occupying the same space?

Probably increase Sub Sampling in Cloth Tag/Expert, keep Iterations low (1), try not use 0 in Stiffness and Flexion but there are limits with cloth, stretch too much and it will explode.

There are GPU renderers that will work with AMD, look for OpenCL support – Thea and Indigo are all I can think of at the moment but there are more IIRC (and as Adam said rumors of OpenCL support in Octane 3)

are the blotches there if you remove the objects (carpet/text) and leave only lights, backdrop and HDR Studio?

  • it’s generally a combination of bevelling edges, making cuts and edge/point weighting that will give results. All or only one of those may be what it takes, it depends on the structure. If you can post that final model I could take a stab at it as an example.
