Thanks. That’s good to know. So I can pretty much begin using Motion5 out of the box as well as compressor? Do you know of any ocnflicts wiht havign earlier versions installed? wonder if I should do a clean installation of just FCP7.0.. I wouldn’t have the integration.. But I pretty much export form motion to FCP anyway. I don’t really like working wiht Motion within an FCP timeline… thanks so much. unless there’s aything else I need to know I may make the purchase. 🙂

I’m not sure I agree with that. I’ve been on a PPro plugin crusade. I guess if you bring a sequence into AE from PPro you have access to the plugins within AE so that’s cool. For instance, a plugin like Keylight doesn’t work in PPRo.. you have to import your sequence into AE, key it there (if you want to use keylight – who dosn’t?) , save it, then utilize the results within PPro. But as far as plugins like Keylight or Nattrress or New Blue, or the Noise Industries catalog …etc.. they work in FCP and AE but not PPro. So most of the pluggins I own within FCP, some of which are also AE compatible, do not function within PPro. 🙂

BTW to bring up media encoder within PPro you choose export and then select “Queue” from the buttons at the lower end of the window.

Media encoder works well in converting or exporting to prores. on it’s own or via an “export to” from a timeline within PPro. I researched and played with this a couple weeks ago. You can create your own preset in PPro which also shows up in media converter after you’ve created it. Good stuff you guys. Thanks. yeah I am used to transcoding everything to prores first. You lose time on the front end but I’ve always felt you got it back in the ease of editing and the shorter render times. I recently edited XDCAM content natively in PPRO and thought the rendering time was pretty substantial. XDCAM probably not a good example since I’d have to convrert to HDV in a third party program and then to Prores in compressor for FCP use.
