First I usually render and then watch it through in full quality without any playback issues for a QC check. But also, I’m likely going to output another version soon after or at some point, so it’s just more efficient. if it takes 5 min to render a timeline, might as well just do it the one time, and then output is like 30 sec instead of 5 min every time you catch something. I’ll also render right before audio mix so I’m not dealing with dropped frames and such and get that buttery smooth playback.

Ditto. But always before export.

Does it exhibit the same behavior when rendered in the timeline?

Thanks Brian! In the canvas, upper right. The view “pulldown” menu I guess I should say. Also where you turn on safe zones and such. I think with 10.4 they added a little cross hair (think submarine periscope) view. They call it horizon.

If you go to view menu you can turn on the horizon which gives a cross hairs across the video.
I’m pretty sure there are some FCPX grid generators out there that are free. In fact I think ripple has one that they ported from (recreated) FCP legacy. Ah it’s here… https://www.rippletraining.com/products/free-plugins/legacy-generators/
But If that’s not enough I do have a grid/guides plugin that is pretty robust with a number of other features like center crops, guides, film zones, coordinates, etc https://bretfx.com/product/power-guides/

Did you get a luma matte with varying shades of gray? Stencil luma would work for that. Here’s another trick if you don’t want to compound. Put those layers UNDER/BELOW the background layer, and for the background layer, choose the composite mode “behind.” It will put that layer behind everything else. But it won’t be affected by the stencil because it’s above the stencil in the sequence. Freaky.

Hey Burt! Good to see you in here. I think you’re out of luck as far as a perfect solution goes. The usual process is to copy the clip, option-R to replace the clip, then shift+cmd+V to paste effects, attributes and such back. But timing doesn’t seem to always work or work right. Maybe you just do option+R to replace, then shift+H to hold…. 900 times. Ugh. Maybe you can relink the actual media instead?
Some more details and we might have a solution.

Pretty nice! What theme / page builder did you use? Content is very responsive and the footer looks great. However on iPad the menus are a bit small and the hamburger menu icon on the iPhone is ginormous.

And if it’s transitions that you’re not going to make a lot of adjustments to, like you would in a big template, I’d just make multiple versions. A 4 split, an 8 split, etc. It’s often faster and more visual to just grab a different one from the transitions browser than to open the inspector and pull down an option. More difficult to create in Motion as well.
