September 11, 2019 at 8:35 pm in reply to: Notes vs keywords for clips logging in 10.4.6I’ve never even used notes that I can remember. But Keywords are the larger construct. They’re right there in the browser to click on so no searching or smart collections required unless you want to search across Events. You can use them as key words as you’re doing or you can use them as a more versatile organizational construct than old school bins and folders, where elements can exist in multiple keyword collections at once. Also, seems easier when logging to just drag clips into keyword collections either from an event or even from the finder directly into a keyword collection. For example I’ll have an event called Audio. Inside I may have keyword collections for Music, SFX, VO, etc. No limits to what you can do. Easy to view multiple keyword results by just cmd+selecting multiple collections too.

I saw that post and I don’t know the answer right off the bat. And I don’t have a multi-cam project recently to test. Can you post a screen recording or grab? Might help. I’m assuming you have the angle viewer open and all that.

It’s actually smart.
When you say you want a 15 frame dissolve, what do you really mean? You mean a half a second. So if 15 frames were the default, you’d get different length dissolves in all your different frame rate projects. You’d get 1/4 sec in a 60p, 1/2 sec in a 30p, and 62/100 a sec in 24p.

So you’re going to have to update your system to 10.14 and it specifically says CUDA (what it wants you to update) isn’t supported in 10.14.
Can you just turn CUDA off in Premiere and see if it’s happy?

Just relink the file to the new file. Select the file in the timeline or browser and go to file>relink files.
If you rendered it to the same location that it was previously, with same name and same exact specs, then FCPX will see it automatically. That is assuming you were using leave file in place, which you were because there was an alias in your original media folder.

That would be for a 30fps project to get a 20 frame duration. It’s not listed in frames because 20 frames for a 30 fps project wouldn’t be the same duration as 20 frames for a 24p or 60p project. So it’s in seconds.

Enter .67 as the duration.

Yes in a big studio with machines down the hall or something I’m not sure how you’d do it. But in my little home suite I have the SDI going to my Flanders Scientific monitor, and then have the audio out of the monitor going to my powered speakers. I suppose you could also route it to a board. Sync is fine. I don’t usually use it that way, just when I need to test critical sync, or when I need to show to client, but I can also just show full screen on the computer (shift cmd f) and have audio in sync coming from computer. I pretty much relegate the production monitor to color correction tasks and compositing so I can see a full screen output while at the same time adjusting transform/cropping/etc controls in FCPX.

FWIW, with SDI to the monitor, and then taking audio analog audio out of that monitor I have no latency with my Ultrastudio Express. However if I tap audio off the computer audio out, it will be in sync with the computer screen instead, which is usually a frame or two ahead from the SDI out monitor. Remember good old FCP legacy had that nice little setting that would lag the computer screen by X frames? “Playback offset” I think it was. Usually somewhere between 2-4 was the spot depending on your gear.
