  • You’ve updated Motion but not FCPX. So as far as FCPX is concerned you’re trying to use a template from the future. It doesn’t know what to do with it as it’s never heard of Motion 5.4.4. Just update to 10.4.7 and all will be well.

Don’t update to Catalina just yet.

  • Have you looked into using a Multicam clip for this? Immensely simpler and you can see all your angles at once and do a live switch as you edit.

Everything is attached to the spine, the primary storyline. If you want to move some audio that’s in the primary and clips are attached and you want them to stay put you can hold the tilde key to temporarily override clip connections.

The bigger question should possibly be if your audio is your spine or not. Generally it would be the clips that control the timing of your piece. The soundbites, the VO, on camera host. Stuff that generally if you were to move it, you would want the connected clips to also move with it because they are connected to the very relevant spot in the vo, soundbite, etc. that they should appear and be synced with. Obviously lots of projects don’t work out this way, but that’s the idea it’s based on.

Not to state the obvious, but you do have snapping turned on when you try and move it back with the mouse? Or, just try nudging it with the “,” and “.” keys?

  • I think all you can do is right click on a fade handle to change shapes there.

So true! My daughter is learning piano and after a year or more the teacher is still teaching these same old classic stuff and holiday repertoire. We don’t have a piano but I have a midi keyboard plugged into garage band and the steinway setting sounds just the same. Plus I can record when she plays. I tend to pull up YouTube and get her to learn a few licks of Bohemian Rhapsody or Motley Crue Home Sweet Home. Maybe it’s just some teachers, but I think she’s going through the same disconnect you had. Hopefully I can nip it in the bud. She’s very naturally talented, which can be a gift and a curse.

Nice work. I’m curious as to what tech, theme, page builder you used.

Some notes… on mobile, the slide out menu seemed like really big font. And why were the links underlined on the mobile menu? It’s not 1998 anymore. ☺

On smallest mobile setting (I used Safari’s responsive design mode) the phone number broke out of the box.

On mobile some of the centered text wasn’t quite centered. Testimonials stuff farther down. My guess is due to columns that were originally horizontal now being vertical. You’ll probably have to adjust some of the margins / padding on mobile to get those centered.

On full screen computer that menu. I don’t know. It just kept getting in the way. And it wasn’t jumping out at me that it was a menu. Like I’d go to another page, the menu would pop up due to something I did, and I didn’t realize it was a menu it was so page like. Just an observation.

But damn your GTMetrix scores just kick ass. What’s the secret? Other than it being a nearly 4 sec page (seemed snappy to me) everything was A+ across the board.

You’ve probably got this figured out by now but I just ran into it. I think with columns, at least in Elementor, keeping things even and tidy trumps everything else. To make sure it displays as you wish you’d be better off just making 3 individual columns. Especially since you’re not wrapping text from one column to the next. The kind of layout you have here makes more sense with lots of text.

Are you using Elementor btw? Makes this stuff easy for a non-coder like myself!

October 6, 2019 at 3:05 am in reply to: What could it cost to upgrade iMac Pro Ram

I’m not sure about the iMac Pro, but he 27″ iMac is super easy. Just pop open the little panel on the back and swap out the RAM for the new RAM at 1/4 what Apple charges. This is something you can do by yourself.

I would probably buy from OWC https://macsales.com as they have nice configurator to get you just the right RAM you need. For example you might have four slots with 2 16s already in 2 slots, so you could just add 16. But you might have 4 8s in 4 slots, so you’d have to lose all of the 8s to put in 4 16s.

But OWC should have the info on your model, and if not it should be pretty easy to figure out through the system info
