  • Error when trying to use saved title or genorator in FCP from Motion

    Whether creating a title or generator and then saving it as a template in motion, those templates are not working in FCP. The thumbnail of the templates are shown but when you hover over the thumbnail you see the error message posted in this post. That error message usually appears when FCP can’t find the media. When I right click on the thumbnail and select revel in finder it looks like the files are where they should be. I am unsure why this is happening.

    Note: I have shared this issue with Apple support proapp division. The person I spoke with didn’t know. I did a screen record and he shared it with the engineers. I wonder if upgrading to Catalina will resolve this.

    Mojave
    Memory: 8 GB 1867 DDR3

    Final Cut Pro 10.4.6
    Motion 5.4.4

    You’ve updated Motion but not FCPX. So as far as FCPX is concerned you’re trying to use a template from the future. It doesn’t know what to do with it as it’s never heard of Motion 5.4.4. Just update to 10.4.7 and all will be well.

    Don’t update to Catalina just yet.

    I just went back to the future and updated FCP to 10.4.7 and now the titles and generators work!! Thank you so much Bret.
