Ok, we figured it out. On install for p2cms it says:

necessary for the use of p2 hd
    – apple final cut pro 5.1.4

    They don’t have final cut.

Anybody have a work around? They have a hard drive full of p2 footage. They have macs and pcs. They have no editing software. Is there a free or cheap program. All they want to do is view the footage. Then everybody can move on and begin to enjoy life again.

Toast 8 worked well for us but since we have two hp’s with us on shoots does anybody know if Nero 7 burning rom will span discs? or will we have to get Roxio 9? I can’t find anything in Nero.

    Emre,

Thanks a lot. Just did a test run with Toast 8 on our mac and it worked out just fine…besides a couple disc burn errors. I will keep the advice for PC in mind. I noticed on the mac that it split one of the mxf files over the two discs and then reassembled it on restore.

    Jan,

You mention a PCMCIA update on the panasonic website. I can’t find this. I have performed the updates for the hvx-200 but I just filled up my 16gb card with test footage and my hp laptop is not recognizing the card in the slot. So I am looking for this update you are speaking of.

    Thanks.

Just got toast 8 so maybe I will try that. But I still think we may sell the 16gb card and stay with 8gb cards. That way there will be no fuss in backing up or reconnecting media to an old project.

It turns out it is not just you. I just had the same issue. Your post saved me a lot of time. Thank you.

  • Sounds good. Thank you for the info. Side question, if you have a minute. Are there advantages of capturing with Machina over capturing through Premiere? It seems like there is a little more functionality in Premiere.

  • Thanks for your help. I reinstalled Quicktime+Itunes, but that was not the issus. I had both video and audio clips that when played the audio would disappear and the video would as well. I am working with MOV’s.

I also tried playing the clips in Machina, this may be a seperate glitch but the audio played on the clip but the video would only appear when scrubbing.

What I ended up doing was deleting all of my Premiere Project and associated files. I then started a new project with the same settings, imported the files, and the clips were all correct. Interesting stuff. Anyway if you have any thoughts on the Machina glitch let me know. Thanks for your help.
