I think i just found a bug in the P2Genie software, i am still waiting for my approval for the P2Genie forums to ask about it there. I transferred my media from my cards (8GB) to my external drive on my laptop using P2Genie. Worked great, crashed a few times, and I got the dreaded ghost drive in the /Volumes folder when it crashed one time.

Anyway, I went in to FCP P2 import and renamed all my clips like a good little boy, and when I hit the add to queue button, some of the clips didn’t import. They were missing from my FCP bin, but when I looked into the Capture scratch folder, there was a file with a name like this-

    Outside Brickman offic#FFFFFFFF

    and, the size was 4k.

Anyway, after much scratching of heads, and pulling of hair(s), i figured out that my file names were to long. i haven’t figured out the excat number of characters at which this happenes, but I went back and renamed a few of the clips in FCP p2 import with shorter names and BLAMMO!!! It imported!

Anyone else ever have this issue, or is it just me? i’ve been told that before….

    Cheers!

PS I just looked, and the names were cut off at 22 characters, and replaced with the #FFFFFFFF BS. P2genie or FCP?
