I just bought pro-scores and other software from them two weeks ago. Just in time.

Compressor will also crash if you try to convert a large number of files. MPStream Clip or other conversion software works better. You do need to convert these to ProRes as mentioned before.

    Norm:

Here’s the link with the new upgrade for the 5D. I know this doesn’t help those of us with the 7D for audio. Maybe they’ll give us the same patch later.

This patch will now allow the 5D owners to manually adjust volumn as well as other cool features.

You can’t just log and capture in the native format. There are free conversion software programs out there. You have to copy the card files onto your hard drive first. Then convert it to ProRes for Final Cut. Compressor will do a small number of clips, but there are problems with compressor crashing if converting a large number of clips.

If you can wait a few more weeks, Canon is releasing a new “Log & Transfer” free plugin sometime this month for the Canon DSLR video. It will log & transfer, while converting to ProRes. I found the link. https://www.usa.canon.com/dlc/controller?act=GetArticleAct&articleID=3249

There is a new “Log & Capture” upgrade that will let you use this to import 5d & 7d footage. I’m actually looking for it now. Sorry I don’t have the link. It may be available on Apple’s or Sony’s site.

Do not switch slots until the RED LIGHT turns green. Do not eject your card or turn off your camera unti the RED LIGHT turns green. Or, you’ll have a very bad day.

  • Looks interesting. Does it work for a large number of clips in compressor? I have the 7D and compressor crashes if I try to convert using apple’s presets.

This is another company that has a software called streamclip that is also free. It already has all the formats, links all of your clips into one clip if you desire, etc.

This is the link to a former post about this.

I would love the Pro-Res format option, but the files are HUGE. It would fill up a 32G card in 32 minutes.

It would be nice if all the camera companies would give is recording format options; ie Pro-Res, AVHCD, HDV, etc. Since most will be moving to the tapeless worlflow, give us the option to choose formats and not make us choose camera’s based on the format, if that makes any sense.

I the DV Multirig Pro. Zacuto makes nice stuff, just WAY overpriced on their support systems. Multirig is only $375.
