I would recommend the Canon L-Series 24-70 2.8 for the first lens. Flexibility of distance, great image.
1.4 is great in low light, but it depends what you are shooting. If you are shooting live events where the subject is constantly moving, it’ll be a real pain to keep focus. Your depth of field will be very shallow and if the subject moves and inch, you’ll be out of focus. Otherwise, primes such as 24, 50, 100, are great and you’ll be able to get the 1.2 / 1.4 fast lens for low light.
Nikon and Canon make great lenses. The other brands will give you good images for the cost, but Canon L-Series has great color and detail.
I also have the canon 1.4 50mm lens for around $250. Not as good as an L-Series, but it still looks great for the low cost.

Adobe has made it simple. I likes multiple flavors of the codec ice cream…so enjoy, but I wouldn’t waste time encoding just to edit. That’s why they have spent alot of money and time using people who are much smarter than me to solve problems for the rest of us. Why fight it, join them and edit natively.
If you can’t get enough head room for tweaking your image, get a new camera or become a better camera operator.

You are correct. I couldn’t think of the proper Sony camera. Now if they would go ahead and crank it up to 120….:)

I don’t think it’s a camera issue. Next time, take both cameras, then if you hear the same problem, plug in the other camera for comparison. Then you can eliminate at least one possibility.
I’ve also had issues with bad sound guys who overdrive the signal and send me a crappy distorted mix. The board headphone is what he hears, not what he sends to you.

You cannot overcrank with SD Cards. Sometimes you can squeeze a bit of footage on them. But, that’s why the cards kept asking you to restore or gave you errors. They can’t keep up with the 50p or 60p speed. You’ll need to use the Sony SxS cards intended for the cameras and overcranking.
Even though Craig has had amazing results with his SD cards, many of us have had issues until the latest firmware upgrade was made. There are so many variables in manufacturing, that many cards didn’t work with the adaptors. Most of my problems were solved after I upgraded my firmware on the camera.

I was hoping for the same thing. I know the new Panasonic AF 100 and sony compatable camera will shoot 1080p 60 fps

Still using Final Cut 6. Works great, meets my needs. Final Cut 7 was just to keep the wolves at bay, Final Cut X pox…well…I let everyone else go there.
Apple is making way to much money to really care about it’s video products. Once the iPhone came out, they switched the engineers to that department and only a few lonely people could even think about Final Cut.
Adobe has taken advantage and good for them. I have both Final Cut and Adobe CS5. I’m starting to lean toward premier simply because of the workflow with it’s other programs such as After Effects, Encore, & Photoshop. Much faster encoding, etc.

I use a manfrotto outdoor tripod legs that collapse quickly with a 501 HDV head.
It all depends on how much you outfit your DSLR. Matt Box, rails, etc. can add some bulk.
