There is a preset for Flourescent in the white balance that helps with banding.

You cannot monitor and view the source from your. Camera. The hdmi cancels the signal. Keep the monitor close to the camera so you can see the monitor as well as the client and dierectie.

Panasonic FS 100 does have the ND Filter Dial. You just dial it in. No switching to preset ND setting.

Since you don’t have much of a budget, you might consider renting a camera. Sony EX1-r, Panasonic AF100, Sony NEX FS100
Panasonic AF100 would be great if you have the budget.
You also have to add up the cost of lenses, tripod, media cards, laptop, external hard drives for backing up / archiving footage, etc. to get a realistic budget. Then there is travel, hotel, food, etc.
Sounds like $5,000 will only pay your travel expenses.

This is why my next camera will be the Panasonic AF-100 or Sony NeX-FS 100. They have the great look of a DSLR, without all of the issues with rolling shutter, banding, jello, & poor audio / no control.
They are great video cameras that let you use your DSLR lenses.
I think Canon will need to wake up if they want to keep selling at this pace.

June 29, 2011 at 4:45 am in reply to: Can you recommed a great no track dolly for filming eventsI also have the Manfrotto dolly. I rarely use it for dolly shots, unless I’m extremely lucky and have a perfectly smooth surface, which isn’t likely in an event situation. I use it for my crane so I can move it easily.
Yes, the glidetrack hybrid will be perfect for you, but you’ll still need to import it from England, unless you drive to pick it up, which will cost you more in travel expenses than the VAT you’ll have to pay.
You can shoot from the floor, on a tripod, or light stands. They have different lengths. For most shoots, you don’t need a very long one since you’ll be running and gunning a lot. You won’t need anything longer than 1 meter for 90 % of your shots.

Since I’m usually backloged6-8 weddings, I log and transfer all of my footage. It’s faster then nit picking the footage. The more you shoot, the better you’ll manage your shots, so you won’t have a lot of wasted shots.
No plans on upgrading to FCP X. My system is 4 years old and works great. Until I buy a new computer, I won’t be upgrading my software anytime soon. I have Adobe Production Suite 5 as my updated software.
