If your going to go out and spend more money, I’d get the 5D MkIII. Definitely worth the extra cash. Shoots amazing in low light and with the updated sensor, it has solved many issues.

    Here’s a test shoot.

May 24, 2012 at 6:10 pm in reply to: Most universal lens, in your opinion

Canon 24-70 L-series will cover most of your shooting. It gives you macro and well as up to around 90mm with the 60D’s cropped sensor.

You can also buy a 50mm canon Macro for around $300 (non-L lens) that still looks great.

Finally a 70-200 would be the 3rd lens.

Primes are always better, but when on a tight budget you need the zooms to cover ground.

I would wait and get the FS-700. It fixes and upgrades many issues with the 100.

I haven’t used the camera, but after research and knowing someone with the camera, Sony fell short with this camera. Again, they took my advice and added features and updated the camera.

The 100 doesn’t have ND filters, a deal breaker for me. I would rather get the Panasonic AF100.

The FS700 has ND Filters and shoots up to 960 fps for those cool super slomo shots. It also has a better sensor. Ships in July.

I was thinking the same thing. I was just editing last night and had a clip just a step too soft…arghhh…wish I could fine tune the focus. Especially when shooting on the DSLR’s. Small screen doesn’t help.

I don’t understand why they didn’t license the technology. It would open up it to all the companies and get developed even further. Plus, they would be billionaire’s!

I just bought the Digital Juice suction mount. It works great for this.

    Peter:

Roland has a much better recorder system than both of these. Roland has great preamps, which is what you really want in a recorder.

    R-16 being around $500

    R-5

Roland R-44 has great preamps, the best of these…but $1,000

You don’t need a pre-amp. Just connect the H4n via 1/8″ audio cable and a hot shoe mount.

Or, there are many microphones you can connect to the hot shoe and camera.
