    Hi,

If you have your rectangle in the same group and beneath your photo, the procedure you have described of adding the fade in / out behaviour to the group should work.

This is a screenshot from Motion 5 but it works identically in motion 4.

    Cheers,

    Brendan

  • Agreed, Motions “lens flare” is pretty weak.

One of the very best implementations of realistic lens flares that I have used that react to the environment that they are in is the lighting tools native inside Flame 2012. VERY Nice!! Even works inside a stereoscopic comp. Pity about the cost.

The circle ripple filter in Motion seemed to provide ideal onscreen controls for this preset in FCPX though.

It would be really nice if all of Motions transform / masking / key-framing abilities were available directly in the timeline of X.

Then there would be no need to create work arounds to get the functionality of one to appear in the other.

I wonder if all of Motion absorbed into X is such a far-fetched idea??
(one step at a time Brendan….let’s get the editing fixed in there first!!!)

It’s not ideal but you can just jump into the color board for the grad and tweak it from there.

You would think they could have just included some color pots to click on in the generator tab?

Due to a few questions about BG Design Lines I think my description is a bit vague.

    Here is a video:

I believe fcp does not share the same exact list of fonts as Motion. So incases where it does not have it, font substitution takes place.

You would think that they would have the same fonts wouldt you!

I’m not in front of the box right now, but I believe once you activate the transform tool (Shift + T) in the bottom left hand corner of the viewer, jump over to the video inspector pane and you should find controls for anchor x and Y.

From memory, unfortunately I don’t think there is an on screen control for this to position it in the viewer. You have to adjust the x,y values of anchor in the inspector.

[Simon Ubsdell] “As you say, this stuff is dangerously addictive ;-)”

Indeed, can you remember what you did with your spare time “pre motion 5 rigging” ???….lol

    Nice work this Robbert-Jan!!

Have you not been sleeping for the past few weeks to come up with this magnificent effect? 😉

  • Not a problem, glad I could help.

Yes, we are certainly all looking forward to things getting added in which should of been there to begin with.
