I made a quick preset to help fix dead pixels, it only works for locked off or stills though.

As an added note, there is very little adjustment as far as mask size concerned as you tend to loose the ability to “fill the hole” if the mask is to big.
All this preset is doing is enabling you to move the picture upon it’s self to bring in “clean” pixels which are next to the affected area. A little blur can help if offsetting the picture doesn’t work that well.

Do you mean the Page Number slider?
I tried that one out a few weeks back, but no matter what type (generator, effect or title) the page number parameter would never seem to pick up the PDF in the timeline of FCP X. The slider can be published, but it would not detect the number of pages in the pdf.
Bizarrely it would work fine if you left a pdf inside the effect you published. Which is fine just as long you only use that same pdf over and over and over again 😉

Hi Les,
It looks like from your screenshot you have tried to create the perspective of the black banner behind your text using the Four Corner controls.
What you need to do is take your solid black layer and rotate it through to -90 degrees in X in the transform controls, so it is effectively sitting flat on the “ground”. Reposition in y to bring down to bottom of screen if required.
Then position your text layer in Y so you can see where it cuts through the black solid. Raise it just above where it cuts through it.

Copy protection method?
You’ve lost me.
Although I have noticed that trying to edit any effects that have had re-timing behaviours parameters published can result in some quite instant crashes of Motion.
Is that what you are referring to?

In this very good use of replicators… the effect is created by using a sequence replicator behavior to offset the Z position of the replicator dots.
Select the sequence replicator, and then go to the behaviors subtab of the inspector.
Adjusting the z position will affect the height of ripple.
You may want to also adjust the spread value and loops amount to suit as well.

Hi Frank,
If you select the replicator in the layers panel, then head over to the inspector and choose the replicator sub tab.
About 3/4 of the way down in the cell controls section, adjust the scale randomness slider to suit.
You can adjust the cells proportionally or scale the x / y scale individually.

Hi Lawrence,
Just checking, have you turned the clip you have duplicated upwards into a storyline? (command + G)
That’s the only way it will allow you to add a transition to the clip.
Or if it is just a simple fade up you require, select your duplicated clip, hit control+V to access the video animation keyframes and drag the node inside Compositing: Opacity section to the right to create a fade up.
